Mosely will beat Margarito.

Shane wins in a very good fight. I'm also hoping this fight comes together.

He really wanted a fight with Cotto or Mayweather - beating Margarito is like beating Cotto and that would really play out well with calling out Mayweather - since Mosley has somewhat of a household name.

 

I said this afew days ago, Shane Mosley has fought bigger guys and held his own..

Is bigger and stronger than "Margo" and can actually box unlike "Margo" who is just a bully/brawler.

 

If you REALLY looked at the Cotto fight, he was never hurt by Miguel. He wasn't hit with as many shots as Margo, but he showed that he is no ***** when it comes to his chin. I don't see Margo bullying him, and I don't see him knocking SSM out. Shane wins the first 5 rounds, and holds on to win a few of the latter ones. But if he gets caught slippin, he will get worn down, tired, and outpointed by Margo. I wouldn't bet either way.

 

I think a forgotten point is that Margo does not have tremendous one punch power. His knockouts come from throwing a tremendous number of punches, and from wearing his opponents down.

While Mosley is no longer in his prime, his "gym rat" mentality, heart, and chin will enable him to hang in.

I could not envision Margo knocking Mosley out.

Also, Mosley will not get flustered or as unnerved as Cotto did. If Mosley can stick to a solid gameplan of using his legs to get angles, throwing lightning fast combos, and getting the hell out there, he could take Margo.

 

He needs the combos though to throw Margo off his game...

Cotto backed into the ropes, then would bust out with these tysonesque combos that became somewhat predictable (even though Margo kinda blocked them with his face haha).

If Mosley jumps in and out, goes at angles, and every once in awhile throws in one of his 5 punch combos, Margo will be confused by it. Mosley can be calm and calculated and use the combos to make Margo think too much, and anticipate too much...

Mosley has never been a destructive puncher at 147, it was at lightweight where he was getting most of his stoppages.

Mosley doesn't hit hard enough at 147 to stop a durable iron-chined guy like Margarito. He had enough to stop shot Vargas, but not Collazo.

 

Shane could do it.

He rarely tires late and his overhand right would be on the money all night long.

Margarito is just a beast though and it would be interesting to see if he could stop Shane, much like it will be interesting to see if Pavlik can stop B-Hop.

In the end, my heart says Shane wins but my brain tells me it will be Margarito.

 

As much as I don't like Margarito ... I don't think that Mosley can come close to beating him.

Mosley has suspect defense and probably would be reduced to brawling with Margarito - because Mosley lacks good boxing skills.

Even though he has faster hands ... he will get hit alot ... Mosley has a good chin but I see him getting beat by decision.

 

This would be a tough fight for Mosley. It's a fight he can win, but probably the toughest fight for him out there at this stage of his career

 

:rofl I said a a peak SSM MIGHT be able to stop Margo, I didn't say he would.
SSM had plenty of pop at 147 at his peak before going up to 154 where he was able to hurt both DLH late, and even Winky in the 4 rd of thier rematch. On his way back to 147 he hurt estrada plenty of times in thier bout, and an old worn out SSM had Collazo ready to go in the 10th rd.

Everybody thinks Margo is indestructable, which isn't true, he is very tough but anybody can be hurt if they are caught enough, just right, or they meet the right puncher. Cotto does NOT punch nearly as hard when he is on his BIKE, simply because it's not his style, Judah who used Cotto's gameplan against Clottey threw much harder shots that backed Clottey up even though he was blocking them. SSM, PBF, Judah are guys that don't need to have thier feet set to get full power in thier punches. Margo is very slow, sloppy, and easy to hit, It wouldn't take one punch power, just consistant hard thudding shots, which would accumalate.

 

A Mosley/Margarito fight would be explosive. I agree that Mosley would beat Margarito as well. He has the skill set to win a boxing match and teh heart to make it a good rough fight.

 

SSM at 37 is done, if Mayorga had stamina he would have a chance against SSM, a few yrs ago I would have picked him over Margo but not now.
