Moses Itauma vs Frank Bruno

Possibly, but so far I think its relatively safe to say Itauma has a far more dangerous offense.

 

Absolutely pathetic that at one point I was one of only two people who voted for Bruno compared to seven for Itauma

 

It's difficult to say actually. He looks a bit slicker (mainly because he's southpaw) but the opposition is still quite awful. Bruno was knocking the same level of opposition out in 1 or 2 rounds and barely getting touched.

Yeah but even against those type of guys Bruno’s offense doesn’t impress me that much beyond his power, Itauma’s timing, punch selection and counters seem so much better to me, like even his KO over Whyte was insanely well-timed and placed.

 

Bruno's more basic but his punch selection is probably a bit overlooked. He also controlled distance pretty well when he was stalking these lesser fighters. He was also often in there with quite mobile 'small' guys (eg. Lucien Rodriguez) and managed to trap them quite early. I think you're right but not a hell of a lot can be gleaned from these 1 and 2 round fights. If Bruno came along today in 2025, people would be raving about him AND Itauma, for similar reasons.

I will not be at all surprised if Itauma achieves more than Bruno and Joshua, within a short time-frame too. But, on the other hand, it won't surprised me much if he doesn't. Somebody 'live' or thereabouts - Kabayel, Ajagba, Wardley, Hrgovic, even Huni or Anderson - might have the beating of him right now or down the road. He might have weakness that will become glaring and obvious when he's in with a live body with the right style.

 

I honestly can’t wait to see Itauma in there with a top opponent, after an era of slow lumbering giants that throws one at a time his style is like a breath of fresh air and Im dying to see if its legit or not.

 

I just cannot believe people are voting an unproven bum beater over a 2x Heavyweight Champion, ridiculous.

 

Right now what we see is a lot of “ potential.” Just as we saw with Daniel Dubois, Audley Harrison, Tommy Morrison, and numerous others. Let’s see what Itauma does in the next 12-18 months before we start matching him with proven veterans in fantasy fights.

 

He wasn't a 2x champion for starters and he mainly beat terrible opposition. Bruno is about as proven as Hrgovic

I read that some promoters was trying to put him in with Usyk. I don't think he's ready for Usyk.

McCall is his only qualify win. Didn't do anything else of note.

 

Whyte was 37 and had that wobbly unbalanced look of a fighter who has lost all balance and punch resistance. I was saying that after seeing his punchbag workout. He looked a ****ing old man to quote Mickey Duff

Frank faced down a peak Mike Tyson and brawled well with him for 2 rounds.

I don't think Itauma will be able to take Brunos punch and see a 3 round knockout of the kid
