A rematch won’t change anything right now and if anything Itauma would likely get Chinned before he tires out again. What happened in the fight before the stoppage is meaningless. It wasn’t a six round fight it was a 12 rounder.

 

I remember when tons of people were saying Itauma was the next savior of hw boxing.
Kid doesnt fight enough, gasses and ultimately paid the price after finally fighting a top guy.

He can still make some moves and prob be a belt holder at hw, but he has a lot of work to do

There's a good chance that fight destroyed Itauma, at the very least mentally. He got outmanned.

 

It would be stupid to get into an immediate rematch. Look at what happened to Joyce against Zhang... rushed into a rematch and got beat even worse. Basically ending his career as a top-level contender.

Itauma need to take some time off and recover. Think about how much he loves boxing and how much he wants to be dedicated to his training. Then start sparring for 12 rounds in the gym like many fighters do. Get used to the grind and learn to pace himself.

After that, he should take on a couple easy, but durable fighters and get some rounds in. Learn to pace himself and then ask for a rematch. Rushing into a rematch is stupid and emotional.
