Agree, he's never really a boxer in any technical category.

But in the Vargas and Collazo fights, he looks to be the smart boxer.

Even Roachified Pac is less of a "boxer" than Mosley.

Mosley is and always has been a boxer/puncher. Pac is a puncher who's slowly but surely been incorporating some boxing technique into his game over the course of several years.

Of course when you can't depend on "physicality" like Hoya in his second fight with Mosley ( cause he knew better after the Staples Center's open exchanges 2001), you have do use your leading shot and move sideways and sometimes back like playin a strategy game. Mayweather is fast, not super fast flurryin, but fast enough with sneaky shots and all on the move, then he's by no way a puncher so he has to make his opponent wind up and keep on rollin and slippin... No surprise here! A surprise would be for Shane to come out snapping jabs and playing a chess game instead of making best use of power punching. The thread starter doesn't realize Shane is a fighter who can move smartly, skip punches and strategize on real time like against Margo so he better not underrate him for dat.

Mosley fought a very smart fight against Margarito, but if you think it required strategizing in real time I'd question whether you were watching the same fight I was. Margarito is as one dimensional as they come. If you plan for that one dimension that's all you need to do. They went in with a plan and executed, but it wasn't a brilliant masterstroke.

Mosley is a great boxer though HE NEVER won any fight against the boxers below:

VERNON FORTEST - Lost to this guy twice
RONALD WRIGHT - Lost to this guy twice
Miguel Cotto - Lost to the guy which PAC ko'd.

Nevertheless, he is still a great boxer despite those loses! Too bad he isn't prime.

Two of those fights were damn close.

And with Winky and Forrest, there's no more shame in those losses than there is in Oscar's loss to Hopkins. Shane was peak from LW to WW, and those guys both have LMW frames.

The guy Pac ko'd??? Ur selling Cotto short there was a time were he was a very very good fighter and it was a close fight between him and Mosley. Mosley even beat Marg who beat Cotto. Even against Forrest in the second fight it could've been ruled a draw and who would possibly beat Wright the nights Mosley fought him?
