What's the most exciting fantasy fight you can think of in the history of each weight class from Minimumweight to Heavyweight?
I would be very curious if prime Wlad could stand up to Foreman, Ali and Frazier. I used to think he didnt stand much of a chance after seeing the Sanders fight. But there are very few people in boxing who improved so much after suffering such a brutal loss.
MMW: Ricardo Lopez vs Chayaphon Moonsri JFW: Jung-Koo Chang vs Naoya Inoue FW: Jimmy Wilde vs Benny Lynch BW: Eder Jofre vs Ruben Olivares SBW: Wilfrado Gomez vs Jeff Fenech FW: Henry Armstron vs Salvador Sanchez SFW Alexis arguello vs Manny Pacquiao LW: Roberto Duran vs Pernell Whitaker LWW: Julio Cesar Chavez vs Aaron Pryor WW: SRR vs SRL JMW: Julian Jackson vs John Mugabi MW: Nigel Benn vs Julian Jackson SMW: Roy Jones Jr vs Joe Calzaghe LHW: Michael Spinks vs Bob Foster CW: Can't think of one here that would particularly excite me HW Muhammad Ali vs Mike Tyson
I like the big guys so. Dempsey v Louis Dempsey v Marciano Liston vForeman Liston vJeffries Ali v Dempsey Al v Louis Moore v Foster Robinson v Hagler Ketchel v Greb Robinson v Leonard Duran v Williams Duran v Armstrong Arguello v Sanchez Sanchez vPedroza Saddler v Arguelo Olivares v Zarate Jofre v Perez Wilde v Lynch
Minimum weight - Ricardo Lopez vs Donnie Nietes Junior Flyweight - Humberto Gonzalez vs Myung-Woo Yuh Flyweight - Jimmy Wilde vs Roman Gonzalez Super Flyweights - Khoasai Galaxy vs Naoya Inoue Bantamweight - Carlos Zarate vs Jeff Fenech Super Bantamweight - Wilfredo Gomez vs Marco Antonio Barrera Featherweight - Barry McGuigan vs Naseem Hamed Super Featherweight - Hector Camacho vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. Lightweight - Roberto Duran vs Julio Cesar Chavez Light Welterweight - Aaron Pryor vs Meldrick Taylor Welterweight - Sugar Ray Robinson vs Sugar Ray Leonard Junior Middleweight - Tommy Hearns vs Julian Jackson Middleweight - Marvin Hagler vs Gennady Golovkin Super Middleweight - Roy Jones Jr vs Carl Froch Light Heavyweight - Bob Foster vs Michael Moorer Cruiserweight - Evander Holyfield vs David Haye Heavyweight - George Foreman vs Mike Tyson
I agree with a lot of these but there are a few I disagree with. switch out SRL for Tommy Hearns at 147. As much as I love Julian Jackson he get bombed out by Benn. Didn't have the durability to hang at middle. At 168 I'd rather see Toney of the Barkley fight vs Joe Calzaghe. Or Holyfield vs the Toney that fought Jirov at CW.
I wouldn't be so quick to say that Jackson could easily bomb Benn out as well, Benn wasn't exactly iron chinned either at MW, he got KO'd by Watson don't forget. Benn and Jackson is a 50-50 fight IMO that ends with one of them unconscious, that's why I picked that one for MW.
Jackson didn't have the same boxing skills or defensive acumen of Watson. Nor does he put an emphasis on good technique. Jackson knew what he was, a power puncher born and breed. He would go at Benn with all he had, wild looping power shots. For Jackson all it took was one solid connection to put you cold. He looked for it as you can see through out the Harold Grahram fight. http://i.imgur.com/debXFjn.mp4 Benn was no defensive specialist but he was bigger, faster (in terms of technique) and had a great chin. Jackson has shown weakness to a lesser puncher in Mike McCallum (though he was far more technical than Benn).
Wilde v Lynch winner Carbajal, Flyweight Joe Bowker (Manc) v Jim Brady (Sco), BW Armstrong v Camacho, LW Ceferno Garcia v JC Chavez, WW Fritzie Zivic v Ernie Roderick, WW Greb v SRR, MW 40's ANY Top 1940's MWs v GGG, to compare era's Marshall v RJJ, L-HW Conn v Calzaghe, L-HW Langford v Qawi, CW Louis v Ali, HW JJW v Ali, HW Jeffries v Forman, HW Jack Johnson v LL, S-HW Carnera vs all the other S-HW Contenders, just to compare the era's P.s what happened to the nationality thread, don't tell me it was debased by the House Hitmen? IF so know wonder so many people stop posting.
I'm going to take exciting as being two pronged. It could mean action packed (e.g. Pryor - Chavez) or simply mouth watering (Ali - Tyson). Mouth watering - Ali - Tyson Charles - Foster Monzon - Hagler Hearns - McCallum SRR - SRL Pryor - Duran Duran - Whitaker Arguello - Chavez Pep - Armstrong Gomez - Fenech Jofre - Zarate Action aplenty - Foreman - Liston Moore - Foster SRR - Greb Hearns - Jackson SRR - Walker Pryor - Duran Duran - Armstrong Chavez - Nelson Saddler - Armstrong Gomez - Fenech Zarate - Olivares
Ali Tyson? really? after 10 rounds of having his face beat in Tyson would be rescued by the ref, doubt he could win a round, this would Buster Douglas times 3
