The General :verysad You could probably make a poll on here asking people to pick the greatest Mexican fighter out of Rafael Marquez, Izzy Vazquez, Vicente Saldivar, Rodolfo Casanova, and Jose Luis Castillo and find Saldivar and Casanova in fourth and fifth place
I knew that Morales and Gatti would be ahead in this one. This forum is full of novices who dont have a clue who Chacon or Saad are. Chacon with only two votes is a ****ing joke.
Raheem? Seriously? Putting him there is a travesty to those fighters atschatschatsch To answer, it would be Morales. :thumbsup
It's not a crime to think Gatti was more exciting than either of those 2, you could definetely make a case for him being so.
No its not. For me its actually between him and Chacon with Saad close behind those Two. But i bet most are voting for Gatti and specially Morales cause thats the only two they know thats the only way i can explain the difference in the number of votes between them and the others. I mean Schoolboy with only two votes, give me a ****ing break, the guy was never in a bad fight and many of them were drama filled wars(Ex Limon IV,Edwards I & II,Frias,Lopez etc).
Chacon vs Limon is a godly fight, now that you mention it :think Gatti is a walking highlight reel, so I can understand the votes, but Morales hasn't really done enough to warrant a place above Saad and arguable Limon. Limon - Chacon is probably on a par with Morales - Barerra, and like you say, Chacon featured in many more wars. I don't understand the Morales love here, actually. No way he's up there with the likes of Gatti and Saad IMO.
I agree. And even though Morales has been in many wars they never had the drama of some of the other guys fights, they didnt had coming from behind KO's,raising from knockdowns and some of them very hard knockdowns(Saad-Kates for example) and then knock the other guy out, pulling out a win in the last round like Chacon did with Limon and Edwards, the many near miracles Gatti pulled in some of his fights etc. BTw dont know if you have seen the second fight between Chacon and Edwards if you havent you should check it when you have the time, its unbelievable and in terms of action is up there with any fight i've ever seen.
I totally agree. You're right, drama provides a big portion of the excitement. Saad and Gatti's fights were defined by their drama, and unfortunately, Erik didn't have many true dramatic bouts. Even his first war with Barrera, which is amazing, didn't have the same drama as it's contemporaries (like Castillo - Corrales) and doesn't really match up to great Saad fights (like you mentioned, Kates. the Lopez fight was another one). No, I've not seen it. Will give it a watch, cheers :good
Bobby Chacon easily Limon, Edwards. Chacon was a better fighter than given credit for as well. He annihilated Danny Lopez and was beating Arguello before being stopped on cuts.
