You sound like the uneducated casual fan before that fight. Pac was in the pinnacle of his prime, oscar wanted the rematch with Floyd but Floyd wouldn't take it and retired so Pac was the next best thing. As for Oscar making a career of fighting smaller fighters, that's absurd. There were many fighters same size or bigger then oscar. At LW sure, but WW and LMW not true at all. Name one fighter that would have done that to Oscar, what pac did during that time? NOBODY. Pac was a wrecking ball and Oscar was completely shot and it mixed perfectly to make a terrible one sided beating.
The way that ZOO adjusted in that second round and started moving Zab with his left was brilliant. Left jabs and left hooks, he left Zab with only one direction to move; straight into the path of that right hand.[/QUOTE] NOT a beatdown...again zab was dominating tszyu up until that one punch... jeeez
The next best thing. This is more revisionism. He was a lightweight moving up two divisions to face Oscar. There were plenty of people for DLH to fight at his own weight. WW and LMW, not true at all? Really? David Kamau made his career at 140, so did Gatti. Camacho was a natural lightweight and so was JCC. Shane was moving up from 135 when he faced Oscar. This is Monday Morning QB talk. NO one knew that Manny could be effective at 147 before the fight. NO one knew that Oscar was shot before the fight (except maybe Oscar and his team).
Take another look at that first round and ZOO wasn't dominating. It was a tight round. But once he adjusted...
What are you talkin about gatti and kamu for? You forget trinidad, Vargas, Mayorga, Castellijo, Coley, Quartey just to name a few. And who was there to fight that was ahead of Manny on the p4p list? Nobody. There wasn't nearly as dangerous a fight for Oscar, especially at that point in his career and coming back down to 147lbs! He wanted the biggest fight possible and got it, with the toughest SOB around. And Oscar all the way up until the fight said this exact same thing. He was asked about people like you thinking he was picking on manny, and responded saying he was the best fighter in the world and most dangerous for him, and was 100% correct, the outcome proved that.
"Not true at all" that he fought naturally smaller fighters who moved up in weight when he was at 147/154 OR not true except in the cases of Kamau, Gatti, Chavez, Camacho, and Mosley? Picking on him? Manny knew what he was getting himself into when he signed the contract. But don't tell me that it wasn't part of a pattern.
