Most impressive showing from anyone not named Klitschko, post-Lewis?

(at heavyweight, obviously) I think Povetkin blowing out Perez in about a minute is maybe the top, considering how they looked and how good the opponent was. I'm not talking about best fight (like Brewster/Liakhovich, Vitali/Sanders, etc) but most impressive showing. What do you think? I don't think anything Wilder, Pulev, Chagaev, Haye has done at heavyweight is that good. I thought Perez had a granite jaw. Wow. Very impressed.

Holyfield beating Valuev (and getting robbed) just given his age was nice. Maybe a Haye or Ibragimov performance?

 

Not much there really. Povetkins blowout of Perez was totally unexpected and insane.

 

I think David Haye rocking Nikolai Valuev was pretty damn impressive.
And Davis stoppage over Derek was impressive aswell.

But yeah I think this have to be in the top 5 performances in the heavyweight division of this era since nobody expected this. I thought Povetkin would win but I didn't really think he would stop him let alone in first round.

I might add that this is the first time In a long time I look forward to the future of the heavyweight diviosn. Sure Klitscko is a great champion but he's been so dominant so it's nice to see some young guys acually willing to put it all on the line.

 

This was more about Perez embarrasing himself in there than Povetkin showing off. I'd say his last 2 wins were more impressive. In those fights you knew Takam and Charr were who they always were and Povetkin simply destroyed them. Perez was there like he doesn't care and he just wants to retire with a last big payday.

 

Obvious answer is obvious answer, fellas.

Most impressive KO streak, Charr, Takam, Perez. I think Povetkin's resume beats Vitali's.( Not saying he'd beat prime Vitali, I know he wouldn't)

 

For me it was the most impressive showing since I started to watch boxing, early 2012. Mike Perez is one of the most skilled heavyweights on the planet, one of the best chins and got destroyed as easy as that. Didn't see that one coming.

 

What the hell is impressive about those wins? damn ya'll praise mediocre wins on here

 

These are some decent wins + he's got wins against Byrd, Chagaev, Chambers, Huck (Awful performance, but I thought he won) and a bunch of other people who are good fighters.

He's got a decent resume, better than anyone else in the division by far.

 

Even the Perez, right after the Mago fight, absolutely outclassed Takam in the first 4 rounds, and punch for punch, he was outclassing Jennings in the early rounds. Guy was looking great against good competition early. Povetkin just straight demolished him in the first round.

That was extremely impressive. A lot thought Perez would at least win the early rounds before he gassed.

No one saw that coming, and Perez was, at the time, easily a top ten heavyweight.

 

So Takam is suppose to be a good because he beat a 42 year old Tony Thompson?
