Ali was great, but not the god like figure that some people make him out to be.

More currently- Tarver without a doubt. RJJ soley because his fans compared him to Superman. David Tua (name me one really good win). And no as much as I like the idea of Ruiz being put to sleep inside of 30 seconds, its still not a good win. Unfortunately because I'm a fan, but DLH turned out to be overrated. And I think Calzaghe is being made into some unbeatable figure based on longevity much like Hopkins as opposed to multiple high quality wins.

Gatti is easily the most overrated boxer ever. Gatti really does get credit for getting his ass kicked.

Gene Tunney gets rated as a Top 10 heavyweight sometimes for his wins against an older Dempsey. As a top heavyweight, he's often overrated.

Dempsey and Pryor, with Hagler to a lesser extent. He gets rated by so many as #1 Middleweight like it's a walkup start, but he ain't that.

What is it that makes Johnson such an underrated fighter? It's been a suprisingly popular choice for alot, so what's you're reason?

Ali is the ****ing greatest. The man Knocked out Sonny Liston twice.....twice..nobody Liston was Mike Tyson before Mike Tyson...He beat fighters from the 60s through past his prime to the best YOUNGER fighters from the 70s. A prime Ali, pre-jail kicked all asses.

    A sweeping generalization.

Maybe some of his more deluded fans believe he was God.

Most of us know he had flaws, but I wouldn't number them as MANY

For those who rank him #1 Head-to-head, by definition that doesn't mean he's unbeatable. However, it means that in a 10 fight series, he'll win most of the time against anybody.

    Nonesense.

He gets MORE than his share of criticism, even hate, on this forum and elsewhwere.

That would constitute a fairly lonely opinion. It could be argued that he's not the H2H best ever. However, to say
    This content is protected
is probably as preposterous a thing as one could say, and still claim to be a student of this sport.

He would be 'in consideration' against any fighter of any weight who has ever laced up gloves.
