That is just incorrect. He put on an amazing technical display of boxing against Big George. Morrison also had some gutty performances and great knockouts. He is rated right, a good heavyweight. No one rates him higher.
Many so called boxing experts have him ranked as the no.2 fighter at 140. They are certainly overrating him. However, I wouldn't call him the most overrated fighter of all time.
Well, he did win the belt of the ultimate paper champ; a guy in the form of N'Dou who was given the title in the middle of the night. It's all good, he should be relieved of his belt come November.
I would say Muhammad Ali. He was great, but his boxing ability is given more credit than it deserves because he is such a cultural icon.
Perhaps, but a lot of Ali's greatness also relies on the fact that he beat everyone there was to beat in the greatest HW era of all time. The fact that he was able to achieve as much mostly in the second half of his career mostly with his boxing brain rather than physical ability says a lot about his greatness. His resume is behind only Benny Leonard among single weight class fighters.
Yeah, i'm not trying to discredit him, he's certainly one of the very best heavyweights ever, but he's regularly said to be the best p4p ever, which I think is ludicrous.
I don't know of many who would say that. I know quite a few who have him at, around or behind the #10 spot P4P.
Very few true boxing fans think it, but if you walked up to 100 people in the street and asked, the answer you'd get back the most would be Ali.
Pre-Calzaghe Lacy deserves an honorable mention, at no stage did he even beat a prime B level opponent and suddenly he was going to KO1 the world.
