The irony of thinking that having a guy move up in weight to fight you is a greater risk than jumping in the ring that same guy at age 36 while giving up about 25 pounds....Well, it's a greater risk if you're a human pinata.
Give Thurman a break. He beat Porter & Garcia & took a well earned spiritual break in the mountains of Nepal.
That Welterweight was a late replacement to save the event. Now that Welterweight fights at Junior Middlweight. And no he isn't GGG second biggest win. Cotto won the WBC middlweight belt and linear middleweight belt vs an ancient, shot, damaged goods Martinez. So fighting the linear middleweight beltholder isn't a legitimate fight? Still Canelo fought this" ancient, shot, damaged goods midget" 6 month later
There was no event to be saved. No venue , no date , there wasn't even a contract signed. GGG happily swapped out Ebanks for a welter weight. Golovkin fanbots were all up for him fighting Cotto , but never wanted or called for him to go anywhere near Ward. GGG vs Cotto wasn't a legitimate fight , it was a horrible mismatch that was never going to happen. Golovkin does a pretty good job of protecting himself. He even throws belts away so he can fight a super welter who was retired by Erislandy Lara
"most protected fighter in boxing" ESB logic: lets name some guys that cleared out divisions, won a dozen fights against ranked opponents, etc. Yeah!
Crawford beat 4 world champs and is a 3 division world champion. Golovkin beat 1 world champ who had already been beaten twice. Crawford has the better record.
I take quality over quantity pal. Crawford is a 3 weight world champion in 2 of the weakest divisions and beat the weakest champion at 147. 16 of Golovkins last 19 opponents where current/former or went on to fight for a title. You may think 160 is/was weak but 135 and 140 was far worse at the time Bud was there.
GGGs legacy is contained within the poor MW division he dominated over. Crawford merely passed through 135/140 on his way to 147 which is one of the best divisions in the sport. Beating 4 world champs is better than beating 1 no matter what way you splice it. GGG wasn't willing to move up and fight guys , whereas Crawford is/has.
It's not when the 4 champions you beat are African cab drivers and Scottish chip shop owners and Mexican journeymen. Again quality over quantity, also he starts camp at 180, he's been making 135 and 140 for the past 5 years, he could have moved up prior and now he has done he's faced the weakest champion and has done nothing of note so far at 147 to warrant claim that it's great...again he fought a weak champion, it's not like he's moved up straight to Spence. Also I would take Jacobs and Lemieux who was both champions over that of Burns, Indongo and Postol.
Postal beating Matthysse is better than Jacobs beating Peter Quilin. Matthysse followed up the loss with two decent stoppage wins over E- Taylor and Kiram. Quillin went and labored to a decision over a journeyman and hasn't been heard from since. Postal may have lost to Taylor , but Jacobs would also lose if he fought somebody as good as Taylor. Horn beating Pacquiao is better than Lemiuex beating N'dam for a vacant belt that was dropped by mentally damaged Jermain Taylor who had one foot inside the nut-house. Pacquaio was a real champion on a very good win streak over Vargas and Bradley , therefore Carw beating Horn is better than GGG beating Lemiuex... And Craw moved up to fight Horn so that makes the win even better.
