i would pick: roberto duran salvador sanchez alexis arguello ricardo lopez SRL wilfredo benitez pea whitaker carlos monzon
Most skilled or most talented? Roy is THE most talented, but not one of the most skilled I wouldn't say, not quite, just because his physical talent had so much to do with his success. Most overall skilled fighters include Robinson, Duran, Charles, Moore, Whitaker, Pep, Hearns, Lopez, Sanchez, Mayweather, Hopkins, Hagler, Napoles, Gomez, Benitez, etc
Most skilled fighters. Umm, lets see. Gerald McClellan Ray Leonard Pernell Whitaker Bernard Hopkins Mike Tyson Jack Johnson Willie Pep Ray Robinson Floyd Mayweather Jr. Emile Griffith Ricardo Lopez Kostya Tszyu Evander Holyfield Archie Moore W. Benitez Bob Foster Michael Spinks Benny Leonard
Marvin Hagler Curry SRL FMJ Joe Luis Lenox Luis Larry Holems SRR Roberto Duran Saul Mamby Roger Mayweather pernel
How about presently with the exception of Floyd? I'd say Cristian Mijares is ****ing scary skillfull.
RJJ said Salvador Sanchez was the most skillful boxer he had ever seen. Said Sanchez did stuff that he can only dream of doing.
So you believe guys like Duran were primitive, considering his prime was in the 70's? Duran would beat Kostya Tszyu like a red-headed step-child and stop him within 5 rounds.
Sanchez was not the most skilled boxer ever, not at all, even though he was very skilled, he was flawed just as Jones was. If Sanchez did stuff that only Jones could dream of(according to himself, likely just trying to show respects to a deceased great), the same is true the other way around, as Sanchez was incapable of doing a lot of the things Jones did.
I don't see many boxers saying that about others. To hear RJJ say that, who is one the most confident and boastful boxers out there, is pretty telling. I think his opinion about Sanchez means more than yours. He said Sanchez did stuff he never seen then or now. Stop hating. Stop acting like you don't hate Mexican boxers. Can't explain why you hate so much.
Nobody's hating. You are one of the most immature posters I've ever come into contact with, I'd have to guess you're no older than 13. You don't see many boxers talking about old timers in that light? How much boxing have you watched? That kind of stuff is said all the time. They will pay compliments to modern day opposition, but never concede that they would lose, but when bringing up the old timers, they'll talk as if they were Gods, because there is no prospect of having to face them. Modern day fighters always pay respects to the old timers. Sanchez was a special fighter, one who rose to the level of his competition, but there was really nothing in his game I haven't seen before by other greats. Roy was paying his respects to a great fighter, that happens all the time. If there's a fighter who could do things physically that noone else could match that I've seen, it's Roy, and a few others. Maybe he couldn't take a punch like Sanchez, but Sanchez couldn't do a lot of things Roy could either.
