I agree. He was facing bigger punchers and better fighters at higher weights post Rosario. All the while aging little by little. Rosario might’ve woken him up to some of that, but he’d have adapted his style sooner or later. He was a survivor.
Joe Frazier. Being knocked down by Foreman doesnt change that. Anyone else that came to George like that and let their hands go would be down too. Difference is they wouldn't get up 3 times nevermind 6. Manila one of the greatest displays of not just heart but chin by Frazier. He was blind taking those shots. Mouthpiece flew 6 rows deep said Ali was banging with power
People talk up Hearnses pwr but he cldnt even ko Leonard. Look at what Camacho did to Leonard its like ridiculous
What does that have to do with his chin? Boza wanted Hector to stand and trade with him and Camacho didn’t oblige him? Boo hoo. You can check out fights before Rosario and see he wasn’t a flat-footed warrior. I don’t really see your point — only men who fight with their faces/chins stuck straight out standing in front of their opponents have great chins? And I absolutely HATE this line of thinking that you have to beat someone multiple times to claim a victory over them. Rematches aren’t mandatory. You get the guy in front of you, beat him convincingly if you’re capable rather than say ‘well I deserve another chance.’ Rosario win a split over Howard Davis Jr and didn’t rematch him. So what?
Felix Trinidad. He was a slow starter and he could be hurt early in fights but always recovered and came back in a big way. Tito took punches that would have dropped many fighters. Especially once he was warmed up. The evidence is there. He fought some good punchers from Campos, Reid, Vargas, DeLaHoya and Hopkins even Roy Jones at 68. Being stopped once fighting the best of his time. In that fight vs BHop Tito's chin was impressive.
Hold on....Hector was an exceptional fighter. An exceptional person. You cant just go around comparing mere mortals to Hector Camacho. He invented Macho Time.
Camacho became a very negative fighter after he wa hurt by Rosario and didn`t land even nearly enough punches in 90% of his fights during the 90`s, he never cracked the ring magazine`s Top 10 P4P at any time after the Boza fight and lost to every world class fighter he ever fought except Rosario who was completely out-classed by Chavez, as was Camacho.
Hearns would have destroyed Camacho without much trouble at all, Camacho couldn`t stop an ancient Duran in two rounds.
Listen, I never thought about it that way. No hate. But the Duran that Macho foughted wasn't drained and wasn't as close to the trauma of the second Leonard fight and aftermaths with his people turning on him and not being understanding with him as when he foughted Hearns. He had got passed that by then and in some ways was a better more experienced and healt fighter. And person.
Duran was too old when he fought Camacho and hadn`t beat a top 10 fighter for years, this was after his awful display in the third fight v Leonard, no way could CAmacho have knocked Duran out in two rounds in 1984, not if a light middle like Davey Moore or a killer like Hagler couldn`t at 160, Hagler would have destroyed Camacho as would Barkley have, no way could Camacho have won a title at middle or light middle.
Look at how fast Macho KO Leonard and then that Hearns couldn't at any w8. No disrespect but you seem like one of those guys who is real old and was actually around back then? maybe have ur emotion vested into it and not being objective or something? cuz it seem like you got a real bone to pick with macho n 4 Hearns. Hearnses pwr a lot like a mirrorage. He so tall that he had more room to load up on people when they was little and all the downward facing momentum. But that wasnt all that tho I dont think. Macho takes out Hearns 4 me. My opinion. Peace.
@mark ant you don't take Boxed Ears seriously. You like his post have a chuckle and move on with life.
