I partially agree with you here. I do think Ali's amount of motion was seriously toned down compared to the days of the 60s, but then look at his performance against Frazier in the second fight, he danced, jabbed, and clinched for 12 rounds. It was very reminiscent of the 60s actually.

What about fight I and III not to mention all his other fights. Ali really didn't dance that much in the 70's. He often laid on the ropes.

Well- Ron Lyle seems to be considered chinny by some here and he was anything but and that seems so obvious to me anyways.

I'm not sure I've seen him labelled chinny very often but don't see every thread.

I also meant to say i don't think Holmes defense is as bad as you describe it. He got tagged at times but he was pretty awkward at other times too.

Yeah I don't see people really questioning his chin at all so his inclusion in this thread surprises me.

That`s true to a point and Brown and Espana were big punchers, it`s just that I feel there were natural welters that could take those shots better than Taylor, his natural fighting weight was 140, he never looked good at 147.

He got stopped by Ali when Ali was way past his best.

I agree with you but he was undersized at 147, at his best weight he was sturdy

It was only 7 months after Ali popped Foreman tho. Granted Ali was never in that shape again but the man could still fight.

No Ali lost his way after the Foreman fight and his speech had already started to slow in an interview before the Lyle fight, all Ali was doing for most of the fight was covering his head hardly throwing a punch, then he rallied in the latter rounds and Lyle folded.

I still thought he danced considerably much in those fights as well.
