Happening at Dynamite. I don't know about this one. I love Mousasi, and I hope he wins, but Kyotaro is legit. It will be interesting.
I think some striking matches would be good for Mousasi. Mousasi is a great all rounder but is complacent with his striking. In MMA, guys won't make him pay enough. In K1 his high head, low hands, straight legs will suffer unless he makes adjustments. Some competative striking matches should help him clean up some technical mistakes, which in turn would help him in MMA.
I think you could see agenst Musashi a couple of years ago that he can be very sharp(well by MMA standards) when he needs to be with that boxing/MT background, in MMA though he's always seemed much more grappling focused for some reason. This will probabley make for a better fight than any LHW MMA match FEG could offer him and give us a nice look at his striking pre Kyle/Feijao.
Mousasi is still very young. He can work on his striking for this fight as achilles pointed out, he does not need to be rushed. however what he really needs to work on is to never let a wrestler do to him what king mo did. better takedown defense should be highest priority. Hopefully he has learned from that fight.
Well we all knew that he was going to be on the Dynamite card, and if he was going to be fighting an MMA fight, it would have undoubtedly been against a bum. At least this is a competitive fight.
I would rather a fighter fight a high level combat sport and improve on an area of his game then blow out Gary Goodridge again. Like Overeem, I think this could help. IDEALLY, Mousasi should be fighting non stop in Strikeforce but these guys just want to go from place to place to earn money.
Although the Dynamite! card is admittedly pretty weak this year, I'm actually very intrigued by this match. Favoring Kyotaro, but I'm interested in seeing what plan of attack Mousasi will bring into the ring. I think this is a great keep-busy fight for him.
Maybe Mousasi has seen how well Overeem has done from high profile K1 wins. Overeem has become a very feared striker in MMA despite not having made huge strides in opposition on paper. Maybe Mousasi sees a marketing angle.
