As most of you guys are MMA guys and this is mostly an MMA forum here's an MT knee for MMA guys as demonstrated by one half of the top quality MT Pinto brothers. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEeC2RO3JDk[/ame]
I've been seeing a lot of stepping in with an elbow to disrupt an opponent's attack more and more in movies and television. It turns out that there is a trendy martial art called the Keysi Fighting Method, that has become all the rage since Batman Begins. I'm not here to discuss the Keysi Method, and whether or not it is effective. I want to know how effective the short elbow strike is. Watch this video around 56 seconds in: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhqgn3eoRXQ[/ame] I like how he steps inside the right hook and lands the short elbow. I don't like how he follows up with all the other strikes afterward. I like the initial elbow and trapping the arm. Instead of all the follow up crap, I think he should just do something like this when the arm is trapped: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koInSk6sXxs[/ame]
I'm am going to start viewing some fights, and posting what technique(s) really catch my attention during the action. boran, or any of you more experienced guys, feel free to correct me when I'm wrong. [yt]RfKvrV8-hxk[/yt] In this fight, both opponents are using the same lead(orthodox). The strike that caught my eye was the rear elbow over the opponent's leading, outstretched, arm. It happens at least twice in this fight, and it is devastating. One lands around the 6:13 mark.
[yt]f6GI5n_364U[/yt] I have always been a fan of the jab. It is the most important punch in boxing. I get so frustrated in seeing how little it is used in mma. I was refreshed to see it used in the bout I posted above. You can find it around 3:44 on the video. The fighters are in opposite stances(orthodox vs southpaw). The jab disrupts the opponent's rear round kick, and puts him on the canvas.
I don't know tbh mate, he has been meaning to go for a while but for some reason hasn't got round to it.
He's pretty tall like 6'2 and in good shape but hes quite slow, I think he's gonna get slaughtered tbh lol.
Yeah not a great place to find any sparring if you're that big I imagine other than smaller quicker guys that kick the **** out of you, but still he'll have his technique tightened by the most well versed striking trainers in the World.
[yt]2SZj9y1R6KY[/yt] [yt]L-_x0UPhalE[/yt] Only andy-Silva and Johny bones have used this technique , its savate not muay thai but effective non the less. some have even argued it should be banned from mma entirely. it what may have led to Patrick cote's leg injury during his title fight.
It is a Muay Thai technique used well before Savate incorporated it. Called the stab kick - closely related to the teep kick and taught all the time. You will pad holders using it slowly all the time. Great technique with work boots and jeans giving more purchase. Should always be allowed in MMA - if Muay Thai has coped with it why not MMA?
