Running away and getting pummeled is not impressive. Again, he showed as much heart as you would expect out of a pro fighter, nothing more. Watch Margo vs. Mosley. Margo was getting destroyed, but kept trying to win; that shows a lot of heart. Cotto resorted to running, and stopped trying to win. The problem with him, is that he doesn't have the skillset to run and avoid damage.

I would have no problem with Cotto running, if it was helping him. It wasn't though. How can you continue to run when you're still getting beat up? His only chance was to stand his ground and catch Pac. However, after that second KD he showed no real interest in mixing it up with Pac. He ran and still got beat up. Why should I give him extra props for that? He deserves as much props as anyone who steps into that ring. However, he showed no extraordinary grit, heart, or determination in there.

Wrong. You are comparing Margarito's style vs Cotto's. Margarito can't fight any other way. Cotto has shown he doesn't always have to be coming forward, and he proved it in the rounds against Manny when he had any type of success (1st, 3rd, 4th round). It's pretty simple: when he traded with Manny, he couldn't legitimately hurt him more than he got hurt, so he had to resort to plan B which was stay away from trading and try to jab and counter when Manny was coming in, perhaps with a big punch. He was unsuccessful at the later as well, obviously, but it was a better shot than just swinging for the fences when it was proven at that point, he couldn't go toe to toe with Pacquiao without getting KTFO, and getting KTFO is a guaranteed loss. Pacquiao also had stated that Roach advised him to be cautious in the later rounds, even though Cotto was losing, because Cotto was looking for an opening to catch Pacquiao with something big.

Cotto ran like a chicken. I would have preferred to see him quit on his stool than just run until the end.

How can Cotto be considered a warrior last night when he got on his bike for 4 rounds, avoiding going toe to toe with Pac, at one point Pac got tired of chasing him around and just stood there waiting for Cotto to bring the action. Cotto showed some heart but not enough to be called a "warrior" for god's sake.
