actually, ali renouncing his racist views, backing off elijah muhammad, is a huge part of his legacy. (i see that inspector took some flak for a comment he made about that truth). one of his greatest moves. don't gloss that one over, for gods sake.
honestly, this board is full of people that are incapable of being honest with themselves if muhammad ali can renounce racism, you can too. of course, though, really, that only goes for good people with courage and a willingness to work, such as ali. a large majority will stay stuck in their demographic.. much easier that way .. log off.. lazy muhammad ali had the courage to search himself and the world
We should all look up to people like Ali...we can learn so much from him. An icon and a legend. Personally, I was quite in awe of his respect to God.
Right, enough. Let me educate you regarding the difference between racism and prejudice. For something to be substantially racist it needs to have a societal context. Ergo: A back man in 1960s America making a race-based verbal slur cannot be racist because of the context, that being segregation to his detriment, without accountability etc. Meaning, to denigrate a white person for their heritage was not reflected by a negative imbalance for the white person with regards to social, political and economic realities. This is, therefore, prejudice but not racist. A white person in 1960s America making a race-based verbal slur of equal voracity is, indeed, being racist because of the context which translated attitudinal thinking into very real day-to-day disadvantages for blacks - at best - and, at worst, persecution by the political elite and its judiciary on grounds of race; and all in the historical setting of a society that relatively recently was based on racial slavery. Ali was not being racist, but his words were prejudicial. Now thick people, leave this thread alone...
RIP , The greatest heavyweight champion ever and one of the most famous men to ever live. This board is pathetic, full of trolls and insensitive **** (I won't post profanity on this particular thread). It's no wonder I hardly ever post here or stay on longer than a minute. I recommend any serious boxing fan with a brain to do the same unless the moderators actually do something to weed out the guys posting about other fighter's and calling Ali all sorts of stuff on the day of his death (in other threads, not just this one). Complete and utter losers with no life, respect or concept of how miserable they are.
Don't worry about people like that they just show themselves up .Ali wouldn't worry about them either he would pity them for the sad little lives they lead.after all who will care when they pass away?
