Muhammad Ali vs Rocky Marciano

Ali was far better than Rocky but wouldn`t have stopped him in two rounds, Marciano would have kept Ali on his toes more than Williams did by being more aggressive, Marciano wasn`t lighter than Cooper who nearly knocked Ali out in teir first clash and was never hurt by Ali, not many fighters were stopped by Ali inside two rounds, Marciano wa a tough guy who stopped Walcott with one shot and then stopped him in the 1st round of their rematch, something that Ali could not have done to Walcott prime for prime.

Most defenitely.

 

Marciano is a tough opponent for Ali, and, IMO, a couple of rounds stoppage is not only unlikely for Ali, but nearly an impossible task. I'd pick Ali by decision, in a rough one for both fighters.

 

Then why even make a thread about it?

 

Because this particular fight has never been discussed before - so it's about time!

Ali absolutely loved the man, by the way. They were planning to do civil rights work together when Marciano died. His wife at the time said it was the only time she ever saw Ali cry.
