Rolling with shots is np but when his turning his back like he did with waters and putting his head way to low its just nonsence, not proffesional and not good for boxing, it looks crap. Waters lacked the power to captalise on the crap defence, had it been Cotton in there Mandy would have been stoped by body shots or an uppercut.
Fair enough TC, I respectfully disagree however, although I do appreciate that you don't just hate for the sake of it, and usually make fair comments. Happy to disagree on this one, i personally think his defense and balance, the angles he works his shoulder whist putting his head out of reach and coming back with an super fast upper cut of the back foot is effective. :good
Mundines defence is a TOTAL ****ING DISGRACE! Turns his back on opponent. Virtually touches the floor with his forehead. Ran away from opponent with his back being the only target. Constantly pushed his opponent away with both gloves. Constantly pushed his left forearm into the face of his opponent. The Pioneer has the gall to whinge about being popped on the back of the head....it is his own doing. He is s classless hack with fast hands.....thats all.
Never doubted you for a second cotton lol I dont hate mundine but have to agree with post #50., it worked for him that night but i just dont think its going to work against strong guys who can really bang in that division, i rekon Katsidis would defeat Mundine at 69kg no problem, if that was Kat in there the other night instead of Waters i rekon Kat would have knocked the man out.
cotto vs mundine? hilarious. mundine would be lucky to make it past the 1st round ffs. he would get beat up badly. yeah, go on anthony, fight him, i dare u, lol.
It wont work for 2 reasons: 1. A ref worth a pinch of **** will warn the tool then take a point for any if not all of the dog**** defence antics The Pioneer carries on with if fighting O/S. 2. The Pioneer would get jeered out of a stadium in the US and not get another fight for his ammature and insulting defence style. Here it is just accepted by everyone.....yet when others do it they are castagated for it.
This one's a doozy - certainly 'The Pioneer' at his very best: This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected For further enlightenment here's the complete article: Anthony Mundine Wants Winner Of Miguel Cotto-Julio Cesar Chavez Junior by James Slater - East Side Boxing - 16th Sept 2010 Australia’s Anthony “The Man” Mundine, the former two-time WBA 168-pound champion, stopped countryman Ryan Waters in the 10th-round yesterday in New South Wales, and now the 35-year-old is targeting the WBA title at 154-pounds. Mundine improved to 40-3(24) with the TKO victory, and the never-stopped tough guy has won his last 17 bouts. Dropping down to light-middleweight for his last two outings, the Australian warrior wants to be known as one of the best in the sport pound-for-pound. And to do that, the man from Sydney is looking at a fight with the winner of the planned Dec.4th fight between WBA 154-pound king Miguel Cotto and challenger Julio Cesar Chavez Junior.. Mundine, who picked up a cut in the 4th-round of his win over Waters (courtesy of a head-butt), told The Sydney Morning Herald that it is the WBA belt he is “chasing.” “My manager is going to see the WBA in Panama,” Mundine said. “And put the pressure on to see what we can come up with. I believe I have the talent and the ability to be one of the best pound-for-pounders in the world. Everyone that fights me, they aren’t fighting for the world title - they are fighting for the world galaxy championship, especially Australians. Their mindset is if they can beat me, they have made it. “But that’s why I am “The Man,” because I keep rising to the challenge. And there is no doubt about it, Mundine - who said he felt much stronger in yesterday’s fight in comparison to his only other fight at 154 - would be a very tough proposition for either Cotto or Chavez Junior. But will the winner of December 4th’s fight look the Australian’s way? Mundine says he may push for a fight with the WBA interim champ at 154, Nobuhiro Ishida, with a win making him next in line for a fight with the Cotto-Chavez Jnr winner. In many ways an underrated fighter as well as being one who isn’t as well known outside of Australia as he should be, Mundine would perhaps be too big a risk with too little reward for the Cottos of the sport. As long as he keeps on winning, though, Mundine will have to be given a big fight soon. On the subject of Cotto-Chavez Jnr, Dan Rafael of ESPN.com isn’t sure the fight will actually happen as planned. On his Twitter page, Rafael says Top Rank have informed him that Kermit Cintron is a possibility to take on Cotto if the fight with Chavez Jnr cannot be made (‘and I have doubts,’ Dan writes, with regards to Cotto Vs. Chavez). So there seems to be a chance we could see Cotto get it on with “The Killer” on the first Saturday in December, not the son of a Mexican legend. Where would this leave Anthony Mundine? Does Cintron even deserve another shot at a world title?
Mundine has looked absolutely crap under 168. He is an old man now and certainly looks it. At his peak when he beat Green and was fighting at 168 where he should be he may have done ok against an elite guy but now at 154 anyone who would give him a chance against an elite 154 pound fighter is delusional.
Hilarious that people are even mentioning Cotto's name along with Mundine's. All Mundine has to do is open his hole, and everyone thinks it's even a possibility. I have a far greater chance of having sex with Jennifer Hawkins than Mundine getting into the ring with Cotto.
I think you can pretty much group the entire boxing media in this category. You would seriously struggle to be able to count on one hand the number of knowledgeable boxing journalists in australia. The amount of rubbish they report on is mind-boggling. Just as an example of classic foxsports reporting, the title of the Mundine Waters article reads: "Anthony Mundine wins WBA light middleweight title". . . it was a WBA title eliminator you ******s. http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,27713249-5009280,00.html
