Cocoa Kid, He beat Williams, Chase, Booker and Carter, drew with Burley and was in the U.S. Navy in 1944.

How about Jimmy Leto? He defeated 6 world champs... as well as Charley Burley and Cocoa Kid.

He just clearly stated, in the post you quoted no less, that the man in question was not a member of the Row.

    Thanks, Burt.

Very good question; one that had me thinking hard for a couple of hours! Several candidates, but what made me decide to go with Leto was that BoxRec photo of his... man, that is one mean-looking fellow!

Thanks b,if anyone wants to see how tough jimmy Leto lookes as I saw him...On youtube click jimmy leto, than scroll down Jimmy Leto/ Tommy Jones...P.S. By coincidence this is the tommy Jones I as a kid would spar with when i lived next door to a trainer of John Henty Lewis...Tommy Jones, would come to the apt next door to me with other stablemates of
JH Lewis...By the way ,Jimmy Keto beat Tommy Jines a few times and used Jones as a sparring partner, in Australia where this photo was taken...b.b.
