We'll just go from FW to HW as most people dont watch non UFC MMA
These are my own personal rankings. if you dont agree, or are unfamiliar with a weight class, just say so. But hopefully, y'all post your own. Not expecting every weight class, just post the ones your are familiar with. If you only want to dispute mine without post your own, please post the reasons for doing so

    So I'll start

    HW
    Fedor Emialianenko
    Antionio Rodrigo Nogeria
    Mirko Filipovic/Junior Dos Santos

    LHW
    Mauricio Rua
    Wanderlei Silva
    Jon Jones

    MW
    Anderson Silva
    Dan Henderson
    Rich Franklin

    WW
    George St Pierre
    Matt Hughes
    Sean Sherk

    LW
    BJ Penn
    Frankie Edgar
    Takanori Gomi

    FW
    Jose Aldo
    Uriah Faber
    Hatsu Hioki

    BW
    Dominick Cruz
    Joseph Benavidez
    Miguel Torres

    FW
    Yashuhriro Urushitani
    Mamoru Yamaguchi
Ian McCall/Mighty Mouse (winner may move to number 1, just cant do it as it stands)

About the only two things I'm iffy about on that list is Dan Henderson at MW, only because his career has been so all over the place at every weight. Definitely an ATG, just difficult to pigeon hole him to a weight class.

I'd also be tempted to swap Sherk at WW with Mach Sakurai.

Other than that I have no complaints. Others might take issue with the lack of Chuck Liddell at LHW, though.

Yeah take your points on board Primate, very good, I'll try to answer

MW is pretty thin, and Hendo's record at MW shits over the rest. Cant really find a place for him at LHW, he was much more consistent at MW. His record at HW is awesome though :yep

The lack of Chuck is only down to one thing, Rampage...I think Wandelei of the same time period only loses to Tito via lay n pray out of the list of guys Chuck beat in the UFC. I think Jones has had a better run than Chuck imo and if he beats Hendo he'll be number 1

Sherk has only lost to GSP, Hughes, and Edgar. Think about that for a moment. I respect Mach, but...and Id have to have Sean in my LW list as well

Yeah. I think that's why it feels a bit weird putting him as a MW ATG. His resume is so diverse it just feels like cheating him a bit.

    No arguments here.

It's not really a deal breaker for me. Sherk is one of the more over looked ATGs, but before Mach started his downward slide he'd only lost to Anderson Silva, Matt Hughes and Jake Shields, and then he kept fighting for a decade after he should've hung them up.

Yeah I considered that with Mach, but the fact that Sherk went the distance with one ATG great above his natural weigh clinched it for me(If Sherk started today, he'd be a 145er no doubt). The only other guy in contention for the 3rd place spot outside of Sakurai was Fitch...and no one wants to see that right ;)

Henderson is not a 2nd at MW, I would also have Torres up a spot

    Why Shogun #1 at LHW?

    What's the case for him?

What's the case against him? He's got some pretty bad losses and near-losses. Right in the middle of his physical prime, he was going life and death with 44 year old, two years retired Mark Coleman, and he was getting dominated and submitted by Forrest Griffin. Plus it's gotta be at least debateable whether or not ANY version of Shogun can beat Bones. :bart

I can be honest and say that I haven't seen many of his PRIDE-era fights, but Shogun seems like one of those guys (like Big Nog) where every time he loses, it's nothing but excuses from his nuthuggers. Every time he loses or looks bad, it doesn't count for some reason. :conf

No disrespect to the man, it's an honest question. :conf

I know he's an ATG because it's the consensus. But I don't know exactly why. I wasn't into the sport when he was dominating in PRIDE era. From what I can tell, he has an unquestionably great run for a bit, but then he also has some embarrassing losses and some under-par performances. And he was apparently washed up by the time he hit 30, which okay that's not the be all and end all, but it never helps when you're talking about a division's #1 ATG. :conf

Avenged all his losses except Babalu, Jones and Hendo, beat the contrasting styles of Arona and Overeem on the same night, past his best still beat the prime out of Machida when arguably only Tito had won a round against him, destroyed prime Rampage, had an ATG fight with Lil Nog and Hendo

Well Babalu is exiled from Zuffa, and he hasnt had a chance to re-match with Jones or Hendo. Maybe I should have phrased it no man he's faced has beaten him twice

Three rematches with Machida, Coleman and Forrest and 3 kods for his effort
