I never said you did. You said Jones wouldn't have carried around all those belts that were stripped from DM. All I said was that Jones WBC belt was his and never DM's. Then you said something about the other guy should have gottten it when Jones vacated. I agreed and said that it was never DM's though. All I'm implying is that Jones did have his own belt that DM never held.
3 belts to 2 lol....Ring belt! (Of course, Jones may not have gotten that without the other 3) And at the time, the WBO belt was a non factor. To many it still is. That belt needs a good titlist to matter, the other 3 do not.
No you haven't. I have only said that I don't agree with some of their unspecified policies. If anything, I generally defend the Ring belt. I think you have me confused.
I don't see any fighter in history beating him at 160 or 168 when he is at his best. At 175 there are only a handfull.
Dont know what the rankings were back then but i would imagine Roy and DM being #1 and #2. Doesnt the #1 guy have to face the #2 guy in order to claim that belt? That didnt happen. As far as DM being loyal to the WBO can you give me any reason why he should fight for any of the other 3 VERY CORRUPT ABC belts. The WBA and IBF ****ed him over already why should he purse there belt again. The WBC ****ed Rocky and was broke because of it. Roy was handed the Ring belt when they discovered a marketing ploy to sell more mags. You and i have had a discussion in the past concerning Hopking BS run as the LHW Champ and the Ring belt.He has got to be the only LHW IN THE HISTORY OF THIS SPORT to never defend his title against another LHW.
Yes, and that has to do with Hopkins, not Ring. As for the other stuff, why would I answer that? I don't care why he did or didn't fight for those belts. What I said is that the WBO was not a recognized title at the time and that now it generally needs a recognizable title holder to be considered on par with the other 3. The last part about why Ring handed Jones the belt is wrong at least partially. The used to issue belts. They stopped, then started again. If it wasn't causing them to sell more magazines before, why would it now? And if it DID help before, why did they stop issuing them for a decade. Jones was not the only fighter who got a belt. And he got that belt because he held the 3 major titles. They don't get into the politics of the ABC orgs.
Like i said he was handed the belt and never rightfully beat the #1 or #2 guy. So you want to give him credit for a belt that was handed to him.You give him credit for belts that DM rightfully won years before. There will always be a dark cloud hanging over Roy's head.
So do the fighters make the belt or does the belt make the fighter? It seems you use both sides of the coin depending on the discussion.
