Hi, I've been training in boxing for 5 months now and 16 years old. I've been getting better and better lately and coach now wants me to have my first exhibition match from one of his mates from other gym. I'm 6'1 172 lbs and the other guy I will be having a match will be 5'6 or 5'8 I've heard and 181 lbs. And I'm also a southpaw. I'm pretty nervous about this even though it's just a exhibition match so I believe it doesn't go on records nor declare a winner. One thing I'm worried about is that my stamina in the ring. When I spar I usually gas out pretty quickly in rounds of 2 and 3. I would appreciate if any tips are given for what I should do and how to prepare and what to do during the fight night. Thank you.
Just relax and enjoy the experience, there's no pressure as in exhibition/skills bouts there are no winner.
I'll try to relax and as for the stamina part how can I increase my stamina? When I don't go to gym I usually just shadow box for 15 minutes and 60 burpees. I don't really go for jog, but I don jump rope for 20 minutes 2~3 times a week and sprints 1 times a week.
Between now and next friday, you aren't going to improve your stamina to any noticable degree mate. Add some high intensity burst work to your workout for amateur boxing/skills bouts.
