Whoever is teaching you guys ought to be ashamed. No defensive skills at all. You are allowed to block, slip, parry and otherwise avoid punches. In the old days, they used to give you points for it, too. You have a very bad habit in the ring, my friend. And if you don't break it, you will someday be spectacularly nailed. You come forward walking- straight into your opponent, walking.
Well aren't you a dick. But watever thanks for the advice i'm working on it im fighting again december 2 and i've been working on my technique and everything damn near everyday so we gon see
And I hope you do well. But you hurt yourself by keeping your feet so far apart- it is hard to turn your weight on punches when you do that, and it is hard to move. The fight I saw was marked by exchanges, both of you standing square up, swapping punches, then he would move and you would walk in to close the distance. A smarter, more experienced fighter will nail you when you do that. I think that, at some point, somebody should be telling you (and every other new boxer out there) that it all starts with defense. The best time to land a good punch is right after you make him miss. Tighten up your footwork; that will probably shorten your punches. Work on your defense and quit walking forward. Honestly, if that was your first fight, you looked ok, prety much ok.:good
