Good analysis. When a fighter is more skilled than you, faster, and is making you look as a dumb, here we say "montale una bronca": increase the pressure, throw more hands, go to the body, push him to the ropes, clinch and punch with the free hand. Nonito tried in last three or four rounds and hass success in rd10... But it increases the risk to be caught hard.... so your face could look like a pizza at the end of the fight.
Naaah, **** all that **** man, Rigo was boring.! atsch Nicely laid out man. I enjoyed his performance immensely.
GIF by Sweet-D-Willy: This content is protected This perfectly illustrates why I felt Donaire needed to commit to more uppercuts (to the body) to bring Rigo up. He head-hunted way too much and nearly all of his shots were rendered useless because of the way Rigo was ducking them. He need to take a page out of Margarito's book, who was great at firing uppercuts to the mid-section to bring his smaller opponents back up. Edit: I mean, ****, forget the uppercuts for the time being, even a power left-hook to the rib-cage (around Rigo's right arm) was there for the taking. Went for the head -- a target too small and elusive -- way too much.
Good analysis Bogo. Warning signs were already there that Donaire would have trouble with a defensive wizard. That's as impressive as landing multiple punch combos.
Excellent analysis, I had the fight 50-50 previous to the fight always thinking Nonitos power, but I was sure of Rigo's skills to outbox him. All the remarks about his glass chin were laughable. I've seen Rigo in the ring with huge guys before. This is the same Nonito who beat Sidorenko ,Vic,montiel and Nishioka and Saturday night he'd beat them all again. It was no the shoulder or the baby or the weight issues. It was just a better boxer in front of him.
This is what makes Hopkins so great. While Rigo was shaking his head, Hopkins would have undoubtably thrown a right hand, head butt combination.
Bogo, it's time to **** or get off of the toilet lol. With all of these crappy experts out there, you could easily out class them.
I thought he was going to take his time a bit more in the early rounds, and come forward with a two-handed shot once he saw what Rigo liked to counter with. But without his jab Donaire seemed clueless, and his left hook never set up the right hand. I was waiting for him to throw a left hook + right hand, with the left hook opening up Rigo's right hand and opening the trajectory for the right. It's such a basic combo that works so well against Southpaws, especially when they like to counter with the right hook, and especially when they lean back or towards their rear hand as they do so. Like I said, I thought against Nishioka he was mixing his punches better but I overestimated his intelligence and willingness to mix it up and underrated Rigondeaux's offensive variety. This content is protected Or at the very least, since we know Donaire throws one shot at a time, that he wouldn't hesitate to throw with Rigo and shoot the right down the center. Baiting Rigo a bit to make him come forward would have helped but he was too worried about making it an exciting fight and was unequipped to do so. This content is protected Throwing with him is what he should have started doing after he realized he couldn't quite parry Rigo's right because of how quick he was, but Rigondeaux made him far too timid with his hard left counters early on. Nonito had success later when he decided to throw 3 shots at a time, but it was too little too late.
Yeah, Rigo wasn't even there for the follow-up to any hook. Just beautiful gauged the range and read Donaire like a book.
Right, most of the time Rigo just stepped out or ducked under, which is why Donaire's head hunting was also extremely costly (though Rigo's counters induced it even worse, because Donaire was afraid to reach). He was completely out of ideas by the 4th. Rigo only faced one real surprise in the entire fight in a messy clinch that he recovered from aptly.
