Yes this fight is truly something to look forward to in 2009. I kind off always feel a little bad because as much as I love Pacquiao I usually don't pick him in his biggest fights. Of course I've been wrong plenty of times but it's not like I hate him or want him to lose, on the contrary I love his character and style and I cheer him on every time he proves me wrong or right. This fight in particular I find very interesting and the one that really deserves the title of the Dream Match. One factor that keeps lingering in my mind is that I think Pacquiao can hurt Ricky, but overall I think Ricky's pressure, speed (which I think is just as awkward as Pac's) and strength will keep Pacquiao from getting into a comfortable rhythm and wont really let him do his best work. For now I would say Ricky UD.

It is going to be a war!

But I am fearful Hatton may be too tough and relentless for Pac.

    Hatton late TKO.

We might see a potential Margarito - Cotto kind of battle and ending here.

i think we could possibly see very early on how the fight is going to go. if hatton can handle pacs power without much problem, and can get him against the ropes, it could be over by mid fight. but it could just as easily go the other way with hatton keep getting caught and a late tko from manny. but we won't know until fight night and that's what makes this a great fight and a real pickem

nice post. sometimes we learn from our mistakes but like you said you usually don't pick pac in his biggest fights!?! that's fine!

If you have been betting on pac since he lost to Morales in march of 2005. You should have losts of money by NOW! On the other hand, if you have been betting against pac since march of 2005. You might be a pauper by now!

I have high respects with hatton and his fans! Much better than fans of some mexican boxers.

This fight is defenitely a fight of the year candidate. May the better fighter win!

    cheers!

Nah, I don't bet real money so I always make my picks without any worry other than being wrong... I did pick Morales versus Pacquiao in the trilogy so I was right only once  I picked Marquez in the rematch and had him slightly ahead on the scorecards but it could have really gone either way, I picked Pacquiao against Diaz and was miserably wrong in the "dream match". I'm a fan of both Hatton and Pacquiao, but I know they will both put on a terrific perfomance come fight night. May the better fighter win! :good

EDIT: The reason I don't always pick Pacquiao is because I'm always trying to be objective and not let myself be too influenced by the hype surrounding his last big victory. But Pacquiao is a very special fighter and he really keeps improving in every fight at this stage in his career!! that's scary but I judge from what I see, and like I said I enjoy seeing Pacquiao fight no matter if he is proving me wrong or right.
    Cheers!

The reffing will play a role in this fight.

Although I'm less worried about that aspect, now that the bout will be in Vegas.

If Ricky is allowed to do the things he did in the Tszyu fight, he has a very good chance here.

If he's prevented from excessive holding, clinching and wrestling, the advantage switches to the better pure boxer.

Ricky should have a strength and power advantage, though only by a slim margin.

Pac has the overall skill, speed and stamina edge here, and that should make the difference.

At this point, I think it goes 12.

    (115-113,116-112,115-113 UD for Pac)
