Amsterdam, you're better than comparing Mijares to Floyd.. because if Mijares was 147 (walking in the 150's) he wouldn't be Mijares.

The Pep vs Tyson comparison brings home that point, he wouldn't be Willie Pep if he was 220.. Mijares wouldn't be Mijares if he was 147... it's a stupid ass comparison.

Amsterdam has lost all of my respect. You forgot one thing about Mijares jab. He drops his guard a whole lot. Sure he starts with a tight guard but your are forgetting floyds best punch against those boxers. Is his lead jab to the body and lead right hand that he is one of few guys that actually can throw and be effective. To be honest. Name another boxer that gets to the body from range and then can go high and low at will. You are coocoo. If calzaghe was at 147 he get his ass kicked. I love the way he falls in chin first almost flat on his face. You guys are unbelievable. Floyd has weakness but it is hard to exploit and damned for sure hard to exploit over the course of a fight repeatedly. As he is the most adaptive fighter in the sport.

Obviously depends on what you call 'skill' and 'talent'.

The list formulated seems to suggest skill and talent amount to 'boxing technique'.

One of the glaring omissions is Hatton. He has great skill, and perhaps the most skilled (save for Cotto) at inside work, short uppercuts and body shots with either hand, he has fantastic footwork, and the leverage he gets in punches from his legs is phenomenal, the angles he makes from using his feet also adds to his skill. Sure he doesn't have great defence, and is not big enough to employ a jab anywhere near often enough but does this make him less skilled. He has immense 'talent' in that he is a 2 weight world champion who left his comfort zone to establish himself in a new country, and at at a new weight. His 'talent' has been proved on the biggest stage over the last 2/3 years. Because he tends to fight as a inside fighter he becomes labelled one dimensional, and without top quality skills.

I may appear to be a Hatton 'nuthugger' (due to my avatar and tone of this post) but find it frustrating that he gets no credit for the talent he has. How many times does this previously top amateur, undeafeated 2 weight world champion, have to prove his talent and skill in the ring.

Fair enough, I think there is a good chance that Cotto would smash a 147 Guzman, considering he'd do the same to Floyd.

Floyd simply doesn't belong at the top though(this is not the common P4P format), even if he's one of the most skilled, I'd really like to see him fight Cotto or others to show why exactly he's a bit overrated at this point. Cotto and Williams will absolutely beat him, and Cintron with his boxer-puncher style and length has an outside chance, albeit not a great one.

I'm glad most people agree Kessler should still be in the mix of this type of format, it's very likely he defeats everyone else around the general weight class, including a favourite of mine in Dawson(some people *cough* Axe *cough*) need to think of styles and to stop discrediting Mikkel.

I agree w/most of your list, but I wouldn't have Hops so high, nor Cotto. Both stay but not so high! I also like Peterson!

    1. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
    2. Ivan Calderon
    3. Chad Dawson
    4. JMM(above Guzman because he would beat him)
    5. Joan Guzman
    6. Joe Calzaghe
    7. Miguel Cotto
    8. Wlad Klitscho(I know some will not agree, but no-one at heavy will beat him, and he's a highly skilled fighter period w/serious power!)
    9. Anthony Peterson(The kid is for real, w/good skill and technique)
    10. Rafa Marquez(Here because he's shown he can be hit and hurt often in both fights w/Vazquez, so he loses points but still top 10)

A prime Ike Quartey would have defeated Floyd at 147 by pressuring him and controlling him with the fantastic jab and timing, Mijares could easily do the same if he were himself, but formatted to the 147 division and it's attributes, Mijares' jab is even better than Quartey's and he can throw it as well from the backfoot.

I think he'd take a decision. You all act like Floyd is unbeatable, he's fantastic, but he's no Ray Leonard because he's lacking in certain intangibles.

Floyd isn't willing to dig deep in a hard fight to win, this is why he doesn't want any hard fights at this point. Since Mijares is likely the best fighter in the world anyway regardless of weight, I'm going with Mijares if they were the same weight, he's got the styles advantage.

To a version of Cotto at 105-108, I'd agree. Margarito however is so technically flawed that it's impossible for him to defeat any P4P talents barring a 1 punch KO, in which he lacks that type of power.

Try again. I realise that most people can't comprehend supernatural fighters very well and Calderon could be classified as such on a night where I'm being generous, though, he's no Joan Guzman or Mijares.

    Mijares is God.

Yes he does tend to run, but his skillset can't be denied, and a smaller version of Margarito would be getting the **** tagged out of him by Calderon!:good Running or not, it won't take away from what he has naturally!

Quartey wouldn't beat Floyd at 147 prime to prime?:rofl

Please learn how to analyse fights before that silly nonsense. Quartey was a great talent who was not managed correctly, he was a fantastic fighter and is the worst possible style for Floyd. He would likely stop Floyd.

Vernon Forrest would have as well.

I don't overrate Mijares, but I do use him for tongue and cheek humour at times to bring out Mijares awareness.

And Mijares' jab is better than Quartey's, his jab off the backfoot is the best I have ever seen.

To be fair, I was in a vehicle accident last week and I'm still on some heavy pain killers.

But I am not being outrageous, you just need to look further into the game and not what the media proclaims. Then you'd easily see that Mijares is the most superior fighter in current boxing H2H-P4P.

He will clean out 115-118 and that's two divisions loaded with talent.

Yes sounds a little more reasonable, and even then it's hard to just pick! Cotto could send him into a shell w/all that pressure, or he can move and tag Cotto at will all night!:good

Cotto would send him into a shell, would do it to Guzman also likely and Floyd.

Guzman and Floyd are both better than Calderon. Cotto excells against boxer types, for example, Shane had to turn into a slugger style to gain ground and it worked against the swarmer, he was otherwise getting owned in the mid rounds trying to box back foot and pick shots.

    Cotto is special.
