"Beat the man to be the man" was coined by a wrestler - and pro wrestling is where such ideas belong. In an industry that manufactures and sells image - that is by nature style over substance; that thrives on promoting popularity over talent. The tangled mess of the ABC's is confusing and frustrating to fans...but cop-outs like the Ring championship are not the answer. Pressuring the orgs and the tv networks toward unification and the best fighting the best (whether the best are U.S. Olympic gold medalists or peasants from Sri Lanka) is.
Mijares-Arce was the Calzaghe-Lacy of the lower weight classes. Except Arce was arguably even more hyped (how big was his favorite line going in?) and Mijares even more unknown to American audiences.
Agree with this also, although I think Lacy was better in comparison to Arce. Arce was being over rated and had obvious flaws to anyone willing to look. Still a good fighter and certainly world class, and very tenacious, but not quite to the level people were making out. The win was a great one for Mijares considering how dominant it was though.
Cotto's hanging out with God? No wonder he has been steadily improving, impressive of him to seek the greater knowledge from the holy. Wow.
Mijares pummelled Kawashima in a similiar fashion second time around when he fought his fight. Mijares' biggest flaw is the same as Guzman, the ability to be drawn into someone elses game, but so far, he seems to be correcting this. He can beat any fighter 118 and under at range with that jab, that's for sure. The Arce fight was more brutal of a beating than Lacy recieved, I am certain Arce will not recover from that fully, it was horrific. But it was also a display of Supernatural abilities, a beautiful one. Mijares even let Arce have some free whacks at him and didn't blink, he's a bad man, he is God. Convert to Cristianity or don't evolve, very simple.:yep
Humberto Soto was in the picture as well...but not standing next to Mijares. That might explain the loss last Saturday.
I am sure that God entertained his request, but I am not so sure that Soto has the mind to comprehend God's word, Cotto is a seemingly intellectual pressure fighter, thus he understood the complex word and is improving bit by bit. But when you think about it, just touching Mijares' hand likely increases your ability by roughly 15%, and I'm sure Cotto got at least an oil rub, so he's coming along fine. I think it's safe to say that every fighter should seek counseling from Cristian Mijares, Soto should not feel bad at all, even the best intellects struggle to understand such genius, as the genius is divine and from a God.
