Can someone please explain to me what Do La Hoya did to deserve being on so many top 100 p4p lists SRR not being top 4 is an interesting choice, Tunney is too low for my liking, same with Marciano not even being up there
Thanks! Firzsimmons is hard to see outside of the top 10 is hard to swallow and 46 seems very far down the list. No Packy McFarland, Terry McGovern, Sandy Saddler or Holman Williams, Jimmy McLarnin? Britton seems low, I would expect more in the 30’s? Lol you have given me incentive to read up on Soldier Bartfield. Thanks for putting your list out there. Don’t take my criticism or anyone else’s personally.
I like Del a Hoya's Résumé and Achievements more than Marciano's (no offense) but only slightly. Del a Hoya has some good wins under his belt (Chavez, Quartey, Whitaker, as far as just names go) I've switched Charles and Robinson around more times than I care to name and I agree that Robinson is incredible I just prefer the Wins of Charles and ultimately Charles himself. I had Tunney higher too but I knocked him down a bit as I learnt some new fighters with better Résumés imo.
I like Fitzsimmons I really do, but I think due to a lack of Résumé (to rival the top 10 anyway) I can't see that high a placement. However his Achievements alone are incredibIe and I could see him being higher up. Sandler is some of have in the 60s really, just don't know to much about him or the others if I'm being honest.
Only slightly, however I could see a switch. I prefer the Wins of Del a Hoya to Jones overall and they have pretty similar achievements imo
McGrain is one of a handful of perhaps??? Expert/historian on this site? I would contrast with his list as a recommendation...but once again they are all opinions mate! https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/the-top-100-pound-for-pound-all-time-greats.459918/
Fair enough! It is part of the fun discussing these things and learning about them along the way. Many of my thoughts have shaped and shifted over the years, and many still are. This forum has played a role as has reading research and watching multiple fights weekly. Appreciate you joining the forum and your willingness to discuss things. I find it healthy to have my thoughts challenged to see if my position is defendable or arbitrary lol
Not a problem. I've used this Forum as a resource for around a year, by just searching fantasy match ups or reading other people's opinions. It's quite helpful!
Mayweather and Pacman over Canzoneri and Wilde? I'm interested. I've never seen Ted Kid Lewis that high, and Joe Walcott is too low IMO. Do you judge more by film and hand to hand when rating?
It's just based off what I deem as Achievements in the ring (so Ali's 3* lineal heavyweight champion or Pacquiao's 8 weight champion) and résumé all in my opinion of course
