This is my third upload on my new Boxing channel on youtube. Yuh Myung Woo, or as GPater insists, Myung Woo Yuh, holds the record for consecutive title defenses at Light Flyweight. He had terrific stamina, and a very good work rate. He works some lovely uppercuts in this fight, andh is body work slowly breaks down the challenger. He's one of my favorite little guys ever, and I think this is a good showcase for his ability. Hope you enjoy. Yes but it's good that you endorse Yuh as a fighter. He was the epitome of educated pressure, and could do a bit of everything.
I watched some Saldivar the other day and I prefer Yuh as a body puncher. :good Yuh isn't as susceptible to getting his ears boxed off like Alexis 'one-paced' Arguello either. And that Ken Bunchanan, bitter ****, Duran was beating the living out **** out of him prior to any accidental low blow.
Yeh Yuh was a better body puncher but aldivar has the better pressure IMO and its more educated aswell To be fair i dont think Arguello ever really got his ears boxed off terribly bad although it showed that it could be done the Fernandez figth was very very close, and you know my thoughts on Pryor Just to show im not a biased **** Pernell Whittaker wins every round over Arguello if they fought why you having a dig at Ken? It was all tongue in cheek. Again, you come into a thread discussing Yuh and instead of discussing his merits, his career, you just throw out Saldivar's name and say he was better at this, this and this. Yuh was a tiny guy, and he didn't have much power to talk about either. He had to be consistent, and he had to be talented in order to be anything other than another run of the mill Light Flyweight. In my view, from what I've seen, Yuh was a better fighter than Moon, who gets talked about a lot more around these parts.
Im winding you up again No Yuh is a good fighter not great just good. He was consistent and determined and thats what let him be better than an average title holder. Yuh probably is better than Moon technically but lacks the Physical gifts of Moon
Exactly, and it takes a great fighter to be as consistent as Yuh was without say Galaxy's power, and without the physical attributes of Moon. Just for future reference, GPater, if you don't have anything postitive to say regarding Yuh, no point you even coming onto my threads. Just a friendly reminder. :good
dont worry if i have nothing positive to say about Yuh i wont coem into a thread about Yuh, you got me? I wouldnt say it takes a great fighter to do it but it is an attribute a great fighter has. I do think Yuh is polarised hes either overrated or underrated (guess what you slide into) i would say hes on the same sorrt of level as Galxy or Moon as he lacks there physical skills and they lack his technical skills (although probably not as much as he lacks their physical aspects) and his mindset
Nobody has ever overrated Yuh. Not even me. I've credited him for having a good repertoire of punches, and being awfully consistent. I've never said he'd match up well with Chang or Zapata, neither have I even come remotely close to calling him an all-time great. Yuh was technically very good, by your own admission, and that's all I have ever attested too.
