Name some fighters that overachieved in their careers...

Very naturally gifted but started boxing at 20, had no proper promoter behind him for most of his career, lost his first step up etc yet went on to become a 2 weight world champion (proper at 160) and a top P4P fighter.

 

If you look at it from that viewpoint, then yeah I guess he qualifies :good

The light is 'The pride of Newbridge, Wales'. I know he had faults but my god the lad is underated and had he been in another era would be regarded as a great. Shame like I say that he was born when he was.

 

Any other era he'd have to fight at 175 and would have been PUNISHED by some great Light Heavies.

It makes me laugh because i can go through most british boxers who made the big time and pick holes in there career at some point.. Who would of thought Joe.C would of been catapulted into stardom after average dust ups with Richie Woodhall, Robin Reid.. Then Hatton who had some scary nights too domestically...... I would never say these fighters have overachieved i just think they have a little bit more about them, face it these guys are winners, you look at,
Clinton Woods..... Enough said...

no1 expected him post prescott to beat the type of opponents at a higher weight devision or even win a world title, hes done well for himself

 

marcos maidana,the fact he came near to getting beat by a shot to **** morales and the proceeds to duck morales for there september clash says all u need to know about his level.

 

That's the thing, only started boxing properly at 20; no one would have expected this guy to achieve anything at that stage in his career.

But to become considered one of the p4p best is some achievement that really wasn't expected.

Maximising your potential is not overachieveing, its doing the best that you can possibly do. Being pedantic I suppose but its impossible to overachieve, you can't do better than you can physically do.

 

This is the problem with Calzaghe fans, its all woulda, coulda, shoulda. Fact of the matter is he necer showed his class to me despite a decent win over Kessler and a burglary against Nard.
