MICHAEL NUNN. Was great, could have been much greater had he kept his nose clean and head screwed on straight.
Top-3 already, but if Willie Pep hadn't had his back broken in a plane crash he could have been the greatest ever. Of course, many say he is anyway.
Watch the last minute of the 1st round. Before that Hearns was boxing beautifully, staying out of range and counter punching. Hagler then gets him to the ropes, and instead of just sliding away, Hearns stands his ground and starts trading again. From then on he had a broken hand and it looks like his legs were made of rubber. Taking the cut into account, if Hearns had just stayed on the outside and avoided trading with hagler in the first round he probably would have got a TKO victory due to the cut.
salvador sanchez - one of the best fighters anyone will see. shame he died so young. naseem hamed - had the talent to go all the way, but ****ed up. he became a narcissist instead. kirkland laing - had he of focused on his career, who knows where he would of ended up. he beat roberto duran, but that's as good as it got for him. he liked smoking weed more than he liked boxing. shame.
Hearns always stands out for me. He's held in high esteem as it is but losing to Leonard and Hagler hurts his potential ranking. He should have UD'd Leonard and a smarter gameplan against Hagler could've etched that one out for him aswell. He'd have been the king of the fab 4 and top 5-10 ATG in many peoples eyes.
he had great talent. he lost to Lloyd honeyghan and it went downhill from there. should of done a lot more. but hay, that's just the way things work out sometimes.
