Well he's right about ESPN. "he's not a great boxer he's just strong as hell" I think what he's saying is when you talk about boxers vs fighters, Inoue's more of a fighter, who's strong as hell, is an unrelenting come forward warrior who throws a lot of hard punches and never backs down. But he doesn't see him having the facets to his game to call him a great boxer.
The winner of Spence Crawford won't surpass Inoue with that win alone. Usyk has done incredible things and if Loma was judged fairly he would be in the discussion. Beterbiev if he unifies and then gets some belts at Cruiserweight is in contention. But you have to put Inoue number 1 right now.
I get what he's saying, I'm not sure I agree with it, but he sees Inoue as a fighter rather than a boxer. I see Inoue as a great fighter too but also with good boxing skills as well. But I would say that his all around skillset isn't comparable to Canelo Alvarez, or Mayweather when he was in his prime, or other great boxers, many of whom have beaten tougher competition than Inoue while showcasing different kinds of boxing skills than Inoue. That's not to take anything away from Inoue. We all have different criteria when it comes to P4P but if you're looking at overall effectiveness, how dangerous a fighter is as a puncher, Inoue's your guy. But there are other boxers with more depth to their skillset than Inoue. Doesn't mean they're better, but that's the idea behind saying he's not a great boxer. He just means he doesn't have the kind of skills that other great boxers have. But Inoue is obviously a lot better overall than plenty of "great boxers" so it's a moot point. But I get what he's trying to say, and I don't think he's throwing any shade on Inoue nor do I think he's an idiot.
Disagree. He has better conditioning than Canelo. Inoue doesn't have the head movement, the counter punching, the ability to slip punches, or the footwork of Canelo. Canelo's main problem is his work rate. Inoue has an incredible work rate. Canelo has more boxing skills than Inoue. But Inoue is a more effective fighter due to his work rate and conditioning.
Inoue averaged 50 punches thrown per round against Fulton. Canelo averaged 38 punches thrown per round against Ryder.
Never trust CompuBox. Inoue landed to Fulton's body frequently, but nowhere close to 100+ like CompuBox said. Maybe around 50-60. MAYBE.
You must be confused. CompuBox didn't say Inoue landed close to 100+ body punches lol. It said he landed 21 body shots silly.
P4P is obviously massively subjective. I couldn't disagree with rankings that have Crawford, Inoue and Usyk in any order for top 3. Personally I think Crawford is the best all round boxer on the planet atm. I'd bump Inoue up to number one after his performance today but that could change again come Saturday (Sunday here). What a week for boxing!
