  2. Marquez vs Casamayor is a big fight and so is Campbell vs Guzman. Unfortunately one is free and the better fight won't be watched live. I'm going with Showtime this saturday. HBO put on two good fights this past weekend. Hopefully, Showtime can do the same

Might this be FOY? It seems like there's some interesting potential here. Both fighters have the mentality and relative durability faced with each other's strengths to produce a good show and some solid fireworks.

Doubt it. I think Guzman's smart enough to realize that banging with Nate is a very bad idea. Thus killing the idea that this will produce some fireworks. Although Guzman could go out of his shield and make this a war which in turn would result in him being KO'd but probably making this FOTY. But I seriously doubt that will happen. Guzman would come into this fight to win so he'd most likely do what he's best at and just box his way into a decision.

Weak resume, moving up in weight, ever so deminishing power as he's moved up in weight ... Joan Guzman is going to get beat down.

Campbell has longer reach ... superior skill ... better quality of opposition ... stronger and more natural at this weight ... and a good pressure fighter.

I'm going with Campbell by late rounds stoppage ... there is no way that Guzman is better than ....

    Joel Casamayor
    Robbie Peden
    Juan Diaz
    "Kid Diamond"

Guzman's most notable opponent is Humberto Soto and he's no where near the same kinda fighter as Campbell.

Well... Campbell's resume is definitely better, but he lost to Casamayor, Peden (twice and KO and TKO), Francisco Lorenzo and Isaac Hlatswayo. Soto, (not the best man Guzman has ever fought, it's Agapito Sanchez), beat the crap out of Lorenzo before he was shamefully disqualified by the too old Joe Cortez.

But I agree... it's the weight that will matter. If Guzman can bring his speed to the LW division and maybe his power back, it's gonna be one-sided. If not, Nate can definitely beat him. It's gonna be a good fight either way.

By the way, Guzman's fight night weight was 148 the last time, which is over the welterweight limit. Expect him to be the physically stronger man in there...

Wow! Guzman came in 3,5 pounds overweight and never tried to make weight for the 135 limit. Something is very wrong. A former SBW champ, who did have trouble making 126 and 130 is having problems at 135 as well? Yesterday he was closer to 140!

The fight is still on with the titles on the line only for Campbell, who made weight on the first try. How could Guzman f* up his weight is something I just can't understand. Of course he's going to be the favourite in the fight, maybe to win the TKO or KO.

Final prediction for this semi-world title fight?

The extra weight will give Guzman extra power. Guzman KO 7!

neither is a big puncher , they both have decent defenses.

all this points to a points descion.

guzman is more skillfull/flashy/has more to his game.

he is also totatally untested at the weight and carrying surplus to.

IMO VERY CLOSE FIGHT TO CALL AND HARD TO PICK.

i am going with guzman to nick it his flashier work and better feet giving campbell trouble.

campbell despite being the older man needs to be the one who iniates the fight , he stands off , i beleive guzman will pick him off.

a fight i would not bet on with any certainty.

diaz made cambell look better than he is and styles make fights.
guzman though can be outhustled and outpressured and does not feel comfertable when fighters take him out of his rythem, and cambell might be able to outwill him, as his weight making dedication show`s guzman might be talented , but he definatley is not not dedicated to boxing and i would put a question mark over his will to win if this fight really went to the trenches.

still i am taking it as granted that guzman still has his speed and legs and has trained for a hard fight

i am basically picking him on abilty and not on xfactors like conditioning and will to win, which i give to campbell.

    guzman points 115-112

I originally picked a Guzman SD. But after that fiasco Guzman pulled at the weigh in, I'm now picking a Campbell UD.
