Kov absolutely battered Clev. Froch would more than likely catch him clean on numerous occasions in a good contest before finishing it off around halfway. If not then before the 10th.
Cleverly has nothing to trouble Froch, he's got no power and isn't a good enough boxer to beat him on points. Froch stops him with a late onslaught.
Cleverley was tough and had a great engine though, could see it being a 12 round war that Froch wins by decision.
He did have a good engine but he is nowhere near tough enough to go to war with Froch and the lack of power means he gets knocked out in a tear up,
What makes you think he wasn't tough enough?? Clev was always durable and that was at light heavy. He is a naturally bigger man than Froch and the fight would have to be at light heavy. Froch had decent power at super middle but its not like he was Julian Jackson even at that lower weight. Most likely scenario is that it goes to points imo and Froch nicks it in a war.
The first puncher he fought he got annihilated, I'm not saying Froch hit like kovalev but he had decent power. I don't think the size difference is that much between them anyway. Froch was just better than Cleverly and there is no argument about that, just look at their records there is no comparison.
No you're right there is no argument about that, which is why I didn't offer one. I just don't think Froch would have KO'd Clev if they had fought at light heavy, that's all. He probably had above average power but nothing special in that department. If you look at who Froch knocked out and who he didn't knock out it's quite telling. The only big name fighters Froch stopped were a past it Robin Reid who retired, Bute (chinny), Taylor (chinny), and Groves. He beat but couldn't stop Abraham, Glen Johnson, Pascal, and Kessler. Granted they all had good chins, but shows against the durable guys with good chins, he couldn't get the KO. Cleverly was durable, had a good chin and was a bigger man fighting at a higher weight.
I just don't rate Cleverly as highly as you so we'll have to disagree on whether it would go the distance but we do agree that Froch would win. I just think Cleverly didn't beat much before getting destroyed by kovalev.
