They can keep it up if they want. It all comes down to the promoters and making the fights they want to see.

the fans made this fight, seeing the weigh-in, the philipines coming to a stand still and the amount of brits travelling halfway across the world in a recession the media could not ignore it

Remember whose saying this (Arum). Just wait to not be disappointed by the numbers.

I figured it would do in the 1.2-1.6 range which is outstanding...but 2.0 seems a lil high especially IMMEDIATELY after the event.

No question Pac is a star.

    :patsch

This is the same argument people gave when Pac-DLH numbers came out. UFC events on a whole are more successful where it counts (the buyrates) and thus is why it's doing better. If you don't believe that compare the small scale UFC event (which draws about 375K) and you'll see that even a shitty UFC show outdraws 90% of boxing PPVs.

For instance UFC 96 drew 375K which boxing promoters would practically crawl over hot molten lava for.

Boxing will ALWAYS draw the big big ppv numbers...but the consistency is lacking.

Did Mayweather ever sign with King or did nothing come of it?

For me - If Hatton Pac got more buys than May Hatton, imagine being a fly on the wall when Arum starts of negotiations saying "pac is the draw - I want 70-30"

    :rofl

Floyd would probably get up and end the discussions there unfortunately.

That's my main worry about this thing. If Arum gets silly with money, Floyd will simply turn around and go in another direction. Likewise if Floyd tries to get cutesy with cash.

No doubt. This will be by far the most lucrative fight ever. Mayweather is one little ***** if he doesnt make it happen.

fcuking great if it's true....I'm only expecting around 1m....
This will have an effect on Pacquiao-Mayweather negotations....Pac will demand for the bigger share which he definitely deserves, so as Floyd Sh!t.

if this is true, hatton is locked in the hall of fame mainly due to his popularity and mainstream appeal

Mayweather is one little ***** whom the fans aren't very excited about. It will be Pacquiao who will draw the fans, and it is not clear that he will be able to draw over 2 million PPV's.
