Everything is ****, Fury is number 1, that is a joke, Wilder ranked to high, lacks activity and opposition, should be at 6. Ruiz, Sanchez, Ortiz, Parker should all be removed. Bakole better than Hrgovic, after ducking Hrgovic, and loosing against Hunter who ducked Hrgovic aswell. Dont get me started that Zhang who barely survive (some dare to say won vs Hrgovic but they didnt see round 12) is 8 spots higher than Hrgovic, they should be next to each other - from this Zhang is elite and Hrgovic aint even in top 10, lol. Joe Joyce in top 10, lol after being exposed as hypejob. Whyte is a cheat and should be removed. Anderson is on the list, dafuq.
The top three are completely fine as they are. Usyk is number one right now, that's without a question. He is the unified champion, he defended his belts against the former unified champion, and he is taking care of his mandatory duties, he does what a champion needs to do. Fury, due to the clowns at We Be Crooks, not only didn't have a mandatory ordered since December 2021 but is allowed to fight an exhibition with a non-boxer while the reigning champion. Even if he was ordered a mandatory a few weeks after the Ngannou "fight" (lol), that's two years with no mandatory ordered. Ridiculous. So in two years, Fury will have fought one mandatory, one voluntary defence against a 40-year-old, 12-losses guy whom he'd easily beat twice already almost a decade ago, plus a non-boxer. With career choices and a legacy like that not only it is fully justified he is ranked below Usyk and Joshua now, but it was embarrassing he was ranked as the number one up until recently. As for Joshua: at least he faced the number one ranked guy twice, and fought boxers since. Say whatever you want about the guy, but instead of chasing money, he is actually trying his best to build a legacy - as a boxer should. I don't give a damn about what you think of him as a person or what you say about his being a robot/bodybuilder/whatever. He did his duties as champion and continues to fight actual boxers - things that the now duly ranked third Fury have never done. Fury has never even actually experienced what it is to be under pressure to fight mandatories by multiple organisations. Personally, Zhang is ranked four after his recent dominant display against the highly rated Joyce. He has arguably beat Hrgovic too and no doubt the outcome of the Joyce rematch will be the same as the first fight.
@TheChamp1235a1, I can give you my insights of how the BoxRec forum rankings are formed. Basically, rankings are now maintained through the hard work of Ruthless-RKO (much appreciated), everyone gets a vote and then the position is calculated, people take it quite seriously, but ultimately it is a bit of fun. Fighters only get moved either when they fight or removed due to inactivity. It is highly likely that Usyk will be #1 after the Dubois fight. Though, I admit, the process causes some stagnation in the rankings. I agree, but many bought into the hype of the Helenius KO. Though, Wilder (#4) will no doubt be removed if he doesn't fight this year. I also suspect the winner of Zhang v Joyce 2 will go above him. Ruiz (#6) and Ortiz (#12) again will likely be removed due to inactivity. Sanchez (#11) is staying active, and enough voters don't like to drop active fighters, but I expect he will drop down the rankings if he doesn't fight a worthy opponent in his next fight. Same goes for Parker (#8) The vote finished and Hrgovic is now #10 after beating McKean. But ultimately it was Zhang that beat Joyce, not Hrgovic. I too think he was being overhyped, but Zhang was always a dangerous style match up (or at least that's how I saw it pre-fight), and Joyce built a resume that easily puts him top 10. If he loses the rematch, he will likely drop in the rankings. Whyte deserves to go through the process, though he is likely to get removed if he gets banned. Anderson (#14) and Makmudov (#15) entered the rankings at the expense of Chisora and Pulev who dropped off the bottom of the list. There is a lot of American hype behind Anderson. But hey it could be worse, he could be top 10! (#10 Ring, #7 ESPN )
The current BoxRec situation is more laughable than yesterday's: AJ Fury Ruiz Dubois Ortiz Wilder Whyte Zhang Joyce Hrgovic Usyk is marked as inactive which isn't far from the truth, it just contradicts the reality of the Usyk sectarians. But he has a fight scheduled and AJ is definitely not deserving the first place where the question is does it belong to Usyk or Fury. How can a man with no title be number 1?
