My favorite one was close UD over Ray Robinson. Seriously!?? The whole P4P concept was created because of Robinson. They didn't call him "Sugar" for nothing.
If he did say that, he does want shot (And this is from a guy who knows what it is like to be shot!) the ****ing idiot!!!
It wasn't created for Robinson, it was just more popularized because of him. Fitzsimmons and Canzoneri, among others, were called pound-for-pound the best before Ray.
I cpmlpletely agree here. I am not a huge Basilio fan, but his style is pure hell for Floyd, especially at Welter. Kind of like a better more amped up version of JC Castillo, who could have got the nod in his first fight against Floyd. Basilio wins 4 out of 5 against Floyd, even though i rank Floyd as a better P4P fighter. Keith
My picks. Robinson by Ko. In 15 he'll get to him, and Floyd has nothing to deter him from trying. Armstrong, by close decision. Floyd moves around to keep Henry from getting off enough, and at welter, Henry wasn't a murderous puncher, and could be hurt. Floyd over Gavilan. Ray leonard by easy UD. Burley by lat stoppage. Floyd by decision over Napoles Basilio by UD or late stoppage. Floyd over Griffith. Emile always has the ability to be beat, and he'd find a way to lose. Hearns ko- 4-7 over Mayweather. Another bad matchup for Floyd. How does he get in around that jab without being decapitated?? He doesn't. Floyd SD over Walker. UD in 12, SD over 15. Keith
I'm sure p4p was a subject as soon as someone asked "who is the best heavyweight?" someone responded "yeah, but the best overall is........" P4P took on a title when it went to sugar ray robinson. It's like, everyone wants the title Ali had, because he made that title.
I'm sorry, but there is no way in hell Floyd is beating Napoles from Lightweight to Welterweight on anything other than the slim possibility of a cuts stoppage. Napoles has him bested in every conceivable area outside of possibly defense, if only because he was much more offensive minded than Floyd. The same applies for Gavilan. Griffith lost a good many fights to the top fighters of his day, but he was the king of rematches. I don't think one would be necessary against Floyd, considering all the physical advantages he holds in this matchup and the fact that he was just as technically sound as Floyd. Walker holds every advantage and more that Basilio would hold over Floyd. Floyd doesn't belong in a discussion with the all time great Welters, period. If you want to rank him among the very best at 130, I can live with that and would agree.
I would have like to seen lightweight duran vs lightweight mayweather, and i don't think it would go too hot for mayweather.
First of all, are you one of those Floyd hater type guys? No big deal if you are, but I don't want to have this conversation with a floyd hater or a floyd lover. It's pointless. Otherwise this could be a good conversation. If you aren't. Napoles- Slightly chinny, doesn't match Floyd in handspeed. Maybe has more pop, but doesn't have the defense. I pick Floyd to win 3 out of 5. I agree about Gavilan's offense, but he could very sloppy, and he was there to be hit. I could see Floyd staying in the pocket and potshotting gavilan to the UD. Griffith- Rematch I pick Griffith. First fight, however, by the time he figures floyd out, it's too late, and he's too far behnd. Emile would sometimes look lost in fights and if there ia fighter to do that to a guy, it would be Floyd. Walker- To me this wa the toughest one. Walker was wild, and very sloppy at times, and didn't adjust well. Floyd would have to move a lot, and not stay static. I can't argue really with anyone picking Walker, this one is just more of a feeling. Keith
I'm the one who's been defending him and bashing Pacquiao throughout his entire ordeal. I stopped reading here. Napoles had a granite chin.
Are you comparing Floyd to Urbina?? Come on, Napoles was fun to watch in that clip, but was very sloppy, off balance at times and his hands were down. I believe mostly because he was fighting a fighter he had no fear of, but if he fights like that against Floyd, he would probably be dropped with a counter, and the fight would change. Napoles is in my top 64 fighters of all time, but he was beatable. Keith
that looks about right to me, the hitman want stop him in 15.i could see pbf myabe losing but not getting stoped.mayweather sr loss in a good fight with sugar, i nknow floyd would do better, maybe not beat him but make it a classic. is good enough to be in hte same ringsa with the great and he could beeat a few of them as well.god **** !
