this isnt just a new system for australia. this is the new world wide scoring system - olympics, worlds, comm games - the whole thing. forget about you're other two organisations - AABA is the only one that matters. its the only one that our international teams are drawn from and it is easily the highest standard
Well my mistake Raxman, I appologise. I hadn't properly read the opening summery, I'm obviously commenting on the 'old' scoring system. I shall look forward to seeing the new system in operation before I pass comment.
i'm seeing it up close tomorrow for the first time. i've got my 19 year old middleweight fighting for the first time since he won the 2010 state title (under 19) - he's an inside boxer-puncher who has never been suited to the amatuer system
Where at? We've (my gym, the Moorabin Boxing Club) got an am. promotion tomorrow at the Bentleigh Club in bentleigh, Melbourne. I assume it has to be, make sure you say hello.
hey - i wish checked the thread last night i would've found you. i work with kel bryant - he was away with some of the vic boys in adelaide. my kid michael humphry was in fight 8 against one of Hargreaves boys surname Bracken. we took 22-7 loving the new scoring system mate. what you think? is Dberry a thread name? are you Steve?
Nice one, Mick is a mate of mine, a good trainer. I'm not Steve, I'm one of his boy's, Dale Berry, I was the blond with the very obvious limp, 'running' backwards and forwards to the red corner change room, you would have been in the red corner with us, I was often hitting the pads or floor to ceiling in between coming in with gloves and head gear for our guys or to let Steve know that the bout that was on was over. I like the new system, I thought the scoring was not only a lot fairer, painting a much more accurate picture of what was going on in the ring.
yeah i remember you. i was nearby early and i remember you all riffing on Steve's trust issues over not giving out a key for something. it was funny. yeah we're wrapped with our boy michael humphrey's win. we were one of two 3x3 minute fight and as you say mick hargreaves is a good trainer so you know his boys come prepared and ready to fight. i reckon our next step is to face the other 3x3 winner and fighter of the day beau penny. penny v humphrey would be a good fight. both young upper and comers with similar styles. it'd be a war. beau beat another one of the c-wood boys (jack game) 2-1 at calabria in march and i think kel wants to give jack another shot at beau first. i reckon the new system worked heaps better. heaps! and maybe it was just a good card but the fights were unreal. how many beaut toe to toe wars were there? and not sloppy either, good mexican style boxing. the best part of the new scoring is that uppercuts and the body shots must be scoring - mike scored 22 points and there is no way he gets that much without his inside work being counted. next card i'll introduce myself. Chris Kelly
glad to hear your positive comments about the new system... all I have heard elsewhere is positive too...looking forward to seeing more accurate results come out of the am's.
As above Still waiting for the new system in WA. They reckon they got the software but need a code to activate it.
Yeah, that was me joking around about the key issue , please do introduce yourself next time, I'll probably be out at the next one at the Calabria club. It was clear this system, and these judges where scoring hooks, uppercuts and body shots as well as multiple points for combos, the scores where a lot higher than usual, and reflected what was going on in the ring. All the scores where about right too, with the bloke that 'won' the fight getting the chocolates. The fights where all very good, even matches and good boxers, and importantly, not to many fights, credit to Steve Kerr there. Was Beau Penny the lad who beat our boy, Danial Martin?
Not sure who name of kid he fought - fight 7. he won fighter of the day by a huge margin - like 40-12. penny has a strange style - he looks slow and he kind of walks in but he has alot of physical strength and has genuine power. he's very relaxed and sits comfortable above his hips when in the pocket - doesnt lean in or hold. fight 7 and 8 (my blokes) were the only three minutes rounds - the rest were all 3two's
