So, it appears walters is an intelligent, thoughtful and clear-eyed young man. He clearly understands the politics of boxing and he has the ability to realistically assess that the odds are against him getting the decision even if he wins more rounds and lands more and better punches. I have NO problem with what he said. In fact, I wish more fighters in his situation would do the same.

I'm reminded of fights like cotto-mosley, cotto-clottey, canelo-lara, delahoya-pea, delahoya-quartey and fernando vargas-winky wright, all fights in which the upcoming star got his ass handed to him by a less heralded fighter and still walked away with the decision.

in fact, walters is not the first guy to say this...i remember an hbo interview with roy jones years ago when oscar was getting close, controversial decisions over guys like pea and quartey...and roy said "it's not enough just to beat oscar...you can't just do enough to win and think the judges will give it to you. you have to dominate a guy like him or knock him out" ...and i was thinking to myself...that's such a fcuked up double standard. this is boxing....since when you gotta knock the other guy out to win? how many guys are gonna be able to KO oscar? oscar was a good defensive fighter, so, even if you could outfight him, it was still hard to ko him. but why should you lose the decision in a situation like that?

fighters shouldn't let themselves get used like that...for what? for money? fcuk money...you gotta have some pride in yourself. it's not walters or loma's fault...boxing needs to fix itself. but no one in this world is better than anybody else, so no one should accept being treated unfairly....glad to see walters is standing up for himself.

Seems more like another excuse for why he turned down the fight, especially considering Lomo lost to Salido in a fight where he was fouled 100 times and he only got a MD win in a fight where he took his opponent to school.

Sounds like he's saying he'd get robbed. "I fought (Jason) Sosa and I beat him clearly and they called it a draw". You say he's lying? That might be what he actually believes, disagree or not, doesn't confirm he's lying. :nut

Saying he thinks he'd get robbed? Maybe. Is hindsight 20/20? Are you a hindsight talker? Lol

Lomachenko is the greatest boxer living today....................he is hard to hit, has a good chin, gives angles like no other, great stamina, footwork, ad infinitum!!! He beat Salido's arse, but Lawrence Cole, the worst referee in boxing history was there to help Salido, he had Salido out in the last round also............

Nobody got their ass handed to them in those fights. They were all pretty damn close and the right guy got his hand raised in most of those. I also sense a not so subtle racial bias here, pretty sad.

And good thing Walters took the fight, we know why he really avoided it now, he got clowned badly and quit. He was getting used all right, for target practice by the best fighter in the world right now.
