I like Ball, but if you're getting busted up, broken nose, cuts by a ham n egger like Ronny Rios, you won't see past the halfway point against The Monster. Just too talented, accurate, and ring smart, together with crippling power.
For somebody that short, he closes the distance very quickly with good footwork and he has a nice jab. Yeah, he’s a roughhouse slugger, but he is a very good counter puncher as well as his other qualities. Maybe he’s not the prettiest, but there are layers to his game, especially considering his dimensions. However, assuming Inoue can hold the extra weight, I think Ball will be out of his depth in the end.
Something I've been wondering for a while, and this is as good a thread as any to ask in. Japanese rules allow stacking in hand wraps. There was a bit of drama around the time of the Inoue-Fulton fight about it. Interested to hear from someone with more direct knowledge: how big a difference does stacking make? Are we looking at fractions of a percent, or something more material? Regardless of the answer: Ball takes too much punishment in fights. Inoue comfortable win.
Inoue is not a fighter you look to try to rush in and trade, having a high output of punches against a top level opponent Ball would simply be caught coming in. Ball is a very good fighter, educated pressure not relentless where the high volume leaves openings, his better tactical chance. Ball can overwhelm opponents but not of Inoue quality. Ball also cuts and with a sharp technician like Inoue thats another big problem.
