Don't care! He's a quitter! All he had to do was take more a beating and be a man! Who cares that he's totally ****ed now and his 'mates' don't give a **** about him. Typical IFL jobbers call him a 'warrior' for one night then have left him like a used condom. Hope everything is ok for him, doesn't deserve to be smashed up the way he did and have it ruin his life.
That sparring incident defininitely ruined him. I remember people were criticizing the guy who sparred him but he didn't even know who Blackwell was or anything about him.
While I totally agree that Gary Lockett should have pulled Blackwell out of the fight, I would say after the seventh round, he had absolutely no knowledge of the gym session and spar. That was entirely Nick's misadventure.
I don't believe that. How can a boxer not know who he is sparring, when the guy he is going to be sparring is relatively well-known and has been in several televised bouts? You'd have to be a completely inattentive, dopey guy.
So in general I reckon it’s quite possible that typical domestic and small hall fighters might not immediately know of each other, especially if the guy he was sparring wasn’t from a typical boxing background, but the fact that Blackwell’s injury was such big news both inside and outside of boxing makes me struggle to believe that was the case in this instance.
I've been around countless sports at a low level, where there's a lot of buzz around people who have not been anywhere near Blackwell's level. People who are into boxing as far as sparring professionally are going to know who people are. Especially regarding such circumstances.
Just saw that video of him last year, even tho he was smiling and laughing it was upsetting to watch.
Brilliant. I liked Haye and then went right off him with his toe and Haye day stuff. I like him again as a pundit now. I’m not usually fickle either. Didn’t he only have his comeback because he was skint though?
