Nick Diaz and KJ Noons Verbally Agreed To A Rematch On October Strikeforce Event | Steve Rattlesnake

    From GracieFighter:

It seems as if the long awaited rematch between Nick Diaz and K.J. Noons will finally come to fruition. The 2 fighters have both verbally agreed to fight on the October 9th Strikeforce show in San Jose, California.

Their first encounter ended in a tko victory for Noons when the ring doctor stopped the fight due to cuts. At the time Diaz suffered from sharp ocular bones that were a constant source of cuts and threatened to sideline his MMA career. Diaz has since undergone facial surgery to file his ocular bones.

The rematch was twice set by EliteXC, however both bouts were nixed when Noons refused due to contractual disputes. Diaz subsequently moved up to welterweight and became the Strikeforce Champion. Noons has increasingly found it difficult to make lightweight, having missed weight twice this year. Noons will now move to welterweight to challenge Diaz for his Champonship Belt.

SF needs this fight, the fans need this fight and Diaz and Noons need this fight to remain interesting, hungry and relevant.

Nick usually gets away with some sloppy boxing. KJ never let that happen last time. This is going to be interesting to see. Nick may have to swallow his pride and look to grapple asap because he might end up the loser if he keeps it standing.

Cant wait for this and Diaz takes it by 2nd round submission. IMO even with the cut and despite it being a 1 round fight Diaz had already figured out KJ but the fight was stopped after the bell of course to cater to Elite XC's love child. Diaz is in his prime right now and hes going to right this wrong.

Diaz may win the rematch, but I don't think you're characterizing the first fight that well. Noons landed a LOT of good shots; those cuts didn't open by themselves. Also, he landed some good body shots which is something that I've always thought that the Diaz brothers left themselves wide open for. Diaz has been beating much better fighters than Noons has lately, but stylewise this is a tough fight for Diaz.

Great fight. I do think that Diaz has improved since last time but Noons is just a bad styles match up for him. Diaz needs to check his ego and focus on grappling.

I'm hoping Nick wins, even though I'm a Noons fan. Nick is one of my favorite fighters.

I'm predicting it will be a top 5 FOTY.

Nice! Great fight for Strikeforce to make. The trash talk from Nick should be entertaining. I'd lean towards Diaz taking this one.

He has no shortage of opponents for the moment. After this fight they can then make the fight with Mayhem, espcially since Mayhem is calling him out and talking trash.

To be honest Noons doesn't deserve a title shot. I'm much more interested in Diaz vs Miller. Miller has every reason to be hot considering Team Cesar Gracie jumped him on live TV and kicked his ass for apparently no reason:verysad:lol:
