nigel benn and the americans.

    i always enjoyed watching nigel benn fighting, there always seemed a great atmosphere.

    i was wondering what the americans thought of him? did they rate him very highly?
    i don't think he fought much at all in the states?

    He was a lot more known over there than Eubank. He actually lived over there for most of his career (Miami, LA?), and many of his fights were on free US TV (every fight from Watson to Barkley, and also the Lou Gent fight-where they went positively bonkers calling it) and then his later fights on Showtime (from Old Trafford to Wembley Stadium).

    I remember seeing Benn-Barkley advertised on ABC channel when I was in Florida that summer, 'England's Big Benn against Barkley from the mean streets of the Bronx' or something along those lines...

    He rebuilt his career over there after he lost to Watson, won his first world title there if I recall correctly
