So Benn merely hit hard enough to discourage a weak-willed foe, as opposed to actually knock him out?

 

my point is that malinga was b level at best. Ward wouldnt lose to a B/C level fighter. Ward's reign is just beginning and he will be on top for a while.

I do agree with you that Eubank would beat Bika, but it wouldn't be competative at all

maybe, Ward is very very good, but lets not forget that he was almost KTFO by a C level fighter, so who says that at the end of his career (in his first of 3 losses before he retired) that he couldnt lose to a B level fighter?

Benn is not an elite fighter. He can beat sluggers but not boxers. Ward would stop Benn and his fragile chin, and weak conditioning. Ok, I'll be more serious. Benn would only have a punchers chance. Ward too strong and too smart for Benn.

 

Yep. I firmly believe that Bika does what he does better than Benn did what he did.

I also think that Benn was generally a better fighter than Eubank, but styles makes fights, and Eubank dealt with fighters that relied on their physical strength superbly. So yeah, Eubank would do very well against Bika - probably 8-4/9-3.

 

how impressive would Ward look against the G-Man? saying Benn looked unimpressive againt this guy and that guy doesnt mean much when he has the opposite style to the likes of Ward

 

Maybe he would be if he was hit by Benn a few times.

im not saying its defiinate, that "Benn would beat Ward", BUT he would give Ward a lot, LOT LOT of ****ing problems.

If Benn or Eubank's road to a title was blocked by Ward, Calzaghe and Bute, they wouldn't have won a world title either.

Inferior fighters to Bika have won world titles (Beyer, Siaca). Better fighters have failed (Watson, Herol Graham). It's wholly dependent on division strength and who's title you get a shot with. Not to mention a massive slice of luck.

 

When Calzaghe was coming up, they said that if prime Eubank or Benn was around, he wouldn't have won a title either.

 

The 97 version of Calzaghe probably wouldn't be good enough. The 2007 version, on the other hand, was clearly superior to them.

 

its all easy in hindsight though, thats the point, I mean, you jump from 97 to 07, its just like saying "Ward would never lose to a guy like Thulani Malinga, even at the end of his career" when we dont know what Wards career is going to pan out like.

Just like they didnt know how Calzaghes career would pan out, when they ruled him out against Benn and Eubank back in the day
