You do know benn trained just 4 weeks for their (Malinga)first fight, and went tooth and nail with Eubank, then beat him ( general opinion) second fight, and beat the **** out of some serious slick boxers along the way:patsch:patsch

Ward beat a ring rusty half blind Kessler, a statue in Green, a midget coming off a few losses in AA, nearly lost to a brawler with moderate speed in Bika then beat a 34yr old sluggishly slow Froch. How the **** can you claim anything when Benn would kill anyone Wards fought :patsch:patsch:nut:dead

The Ward that beat Froch would get annihilated by Benn. It might start off looking like Ward was going to win, but he hasn't got the power to KO Benn nor the stamina to keep him off for the full 12 without the rest breaks Nigel would not allow him to have.

Benn by brutal execution in the championship rounds.

Benn would have come out firing like no other. Ward would have folded very quickly, just look what Boone did to Ward. Benn would have blasted Ward out for an early KO win

    11 WBC fights
shabby would be most of his opponents unfortunately

    D12 Eubank 35-0 :thumbsup
    WTKO10 McClellan :thumbsup

    21-2 Galvano 2 times
    16-1 Nicky Piper
    22-8 Lou Gent
    18-0 Henry Wharton
    Ferreyra 46-6-3
    Nardiello 26-3 (lost 2 of 6)
    Danny Perez 18-3
    L12 Malinga 40-9

Benn was a very good fighter, im a fan of his...but his super middleweight run was pretty ordinary

Yeah, I also know that the feather-fisted Galvano almost knocked him out (saved by the bell) and Watson completely schooled him. Who are these "serious slick boxers" that he beat the **** out of?

Juan Carlos Gimenez outmuscled him for much of the fight and had him in trouble, and Logan had him on the verge of defeat before a hailmary bomb.

Benn is being massively overrated by some people on this thread, who clearly focus too much on the McClellan fight and have bought into the Dark Destroyer mystique built up over his first 20 or so fights.

The notion that Benn steamrollers Ward is ridiculous. What world class fighters did Benn steamroller who didn't come straight to him like Barkley? Benn wasn't a huge, physically powerful supermiddle, and his punches had noticeably less effect at 168. His chin was unreliable (sometimes it held up better than others), and he could be outboxed.

He would have a puncher's chance, but Ward probably wouldn't give him that opportunity.

over 3 fights I can see Benn Koing Ward once but getting outpointed once and as he matured, the last fight he would be smart enough to draw or just lose a split decision.

Ward's ugly style and size advantage makes me think he'd grind a dull UD out of it, but I'd NEVER write off Benn, and wouldn't be surprised to see him KO Ward from out of nowhere.

    Wow.

When I entered the thread I expected to see a 98-2 vote for Ward.

But 60 of 100 think crude Benn wins???

    Crude Benn? Crude you.

I can see Ward covering himself in shame against ATG Brit warrior Benn by way of headbutting, relentless clinching, back peddling, and whining to the ref whenever Benn wacks him with rabbit punches in disgust.

I consider Calzaghe clearly the best ever british SMW.

And I don't think Ward is very far from Calzaghe.

If Benn and Froch were to fight I think the correct odds would be quite even and if I had to pick one I would pick Froch.

Benn, Eubank, Collins and so on are good fighters, bu come from an era where most boxers from other countries skipped SMW and often went straight from MW to LHW becuse the new weight class SMW had no prestige. So it basically was a british championship for several years. Later some US ad other fighters started stopping over and then it got more and more popular. And as it grew popular the British dominance disappeared. Because now it because a true world division and not largely a UK division.

By the way... you say that Ward is dirty. I don't disagree. Ward is dirty (against Froch he was actually not dirty imo) and boring. I agree, but I still think he has too much for Benn. And if Ward and his tainer doesn't think they have enough they will plan to do whatever it takes - headbutting, stepping on the opponents toes, etc.
