No Bute-Froch II if; KO within 6 rounds or UD > 6 rounds difference

I know it might be complicated, but they could try to enforce some kind of mutual buyout clause.

It would look something like:

If the winner doesn't want the re-match and the loser does, the winner would fess up 22% of his earnings from the first fight. OR if the loser doesn't want the re-match and the winner does, the loser would fess up 13% of his earnings from the first fight.

 

Six rounds or six points?

Two different things.

117-111 is a six points difference that is also six rounds.

However, let's say Froch wins 3 rounds but loses 9 and gets knocked down in 3 of them and has a point deducted for desperation fouls...

That would be 117-107 (with the four 10-8 rounds factored in).


That 117-107 is actually a potentially much more dominant win than a ho-hum drama-free 120-108 shutout.

 

I have to imagine if one of the fighters gets dominated but still meets these requirements (say for argument's sake, Bute dominates Froch for 6 rounds then KOs him in the 7th) then both Bute and Froch would see it as a better career move to just not have the second fight.

 

What about Bute's fragile glass mandible from the first Andrade fight?! Does that not count for anything???

I don't see Froch being able to land the power punches given the difference in handspeed and considering Bute's head movement (which has improved quite a bit over the years), so Froch UD to me is just not happening. Desperation in the late rounds, who knows what happens, he could corner a tired Bute and finally put the combos together, get a stoppage. The only chance I think Bute has of stopping him is forcing him down to his knees via body punching. Holy hell would that be spectacular, considering Froch's "chin". I respect his actual chin (!) a lot, hence the #3 spot on my probability scale.

Ok so what happens if its a fairly close fight that most agree could of gone either way and Bute gets the typical 118-111 type bull**** scores?

 

Then he moves on from Froch and KO's Dirrell in August.

--> Any knockout within 8 rounds
--> Any knockout rounds 9-12 while ahead by more than 2 points on the scorecards (average of the 3 scorecards)
--> Any decision win by over 5 points on the scorecards (average of the 3 scorecards)

Yea, that's a good idea, I wouldn't want either of them to be locked in for a rematch when it is clearly not needed, just a pure waste of time.

 

This makes perfect sense.

If the first fight is close or indecisive, of course we'll want to see a second fight.

But if one of them scores an early KO or dominates on the cards, there will be no need for a second fight.

 

Hearn is the best promoter in the game. Promoters are a bit like politicians, slimy and untrustworthy.

Eddie Hearn seems refreshingly honest and straight forward.
