No Ons should reconize the WBA from this point on

This is the corruption that Don King and the WBA started from the Holmes days. The WBA should for the benifit of boxing Reconize a title unification between the best. They just exposed themselves once again as being a puppet for Don King and his agenda. Nicloy Valuev lost to Chagaev and was the interim champ. If the WBA did not want to look like a Cheaper than plastic org. they should have santioned the fight. Valuev (King) refused to fight Klitschko where he can get his biggest payday. I will no longer reconize the WBA. I remember when Holmes was fighting and King controlled most of the Orgs with $$$$$ payoffs...Holmes (KIng) refused to unify and the Orgs rated less than the best contenders for santioned fights and avoided the fighters that were dangerous by not rating them..Same with Bowe who refused to fight Lennox Lewis at that point to me he was no longer Champ. I think anyone who cares for the sport at this point should not give the WBA an once of Credibility. I think the fans need unification..I can understand the Klitscko's not wanting to fight one another but at this point I would have to lean towards Vlad even though I like Vitali's style as my personal choice. Just wanted to bring up this point.

Well King controlled them all back then but at the moment I think it is the WBA....I would much rather reconise a Ring Mag or experts non partison ratings but even the Ring was caught receiving payoffs from King back in the late 70's

 

The USBA-International...that immediately changed its name to
the IBF, was where Holmes jumped from the WBC to become their "Heavyweight Champ".

The WBA have been corrupt from day one. When your parent is the NBA, you know things are not going to be good, and with off-spring like the IBF and WBO, well......

Wlads victory should erase any hint of WBA being a world title imo. Even though the title was not up for grabs, the victory means MORE than the belt itself.

I mean Valuev lost, and some how remain a champ in some other form.

We have a lot of WBA belts out there right now.

The WBA title, the Super WBA champ, the WBA champ in recess. And god knows how many more WBA belts are out there lol.

Chagaev beat Valuev and both are still WBA champs????

It used to be we had to unify titles vs other orgs, now thinks to this, we need to unify titles WITH IN orgs lol.

But Chagaev prove to be the best of the WBA champs, and Wlad beat him. What more do you want??

That win imo takes out any all ready weak claim they had for the title. Some Joe Nobody can beat Chagaev for the title in recess belt, and it would not mean much in regards to WBA.

 

I have never recognised the WBA or any other alphabet body.

These belts mean about as much in terms of boxing history as the colar round my cat's neck.

While we have come to expect verry low standards of integrity and competitivness from them the WBA has exceled itself on this ocasion.

 

i have given up on them. I just go on my and the Ring ratings.

the other day i was at Lee McAllisters fight and he was announced as WBF inter continental champion x 2 weights, Scottish champion, WBU champion x2 weights.

Its ridiculous it really is, all it does is make mroe money and confuse people

 

NONE of these 500,000 baubles floating around should be recognized.

It's the fighters who make the title, not vice versa.

 

It was the WBC and little Jose who King was running in the Holmes day, with Holmes probably being his flagship champ.

 

I don't know if the WBA can be the only body held accountable for the corruption of the 1980's, as the WBC was even worse in those days, and it wasn't just Don King but also Bob Arum who played a part in unifications not happening either..

On the otherhand, I don't particularly understand why Chagaev's belt wasn't on the line yesterday.. This was supposed to be a unification match or at least as most of us understood it.

 

Because they belive they make less money with one champ.

It seems ever since the Tyson days, the alphas been doing there best to not unify.

WBA at least let the bout happen, even though there belt was not on the line.

If Wladamir had taken Chagaev's belt then they would have had little choice but to make a fight between him and Valuev under their own rules.

It would have made unification inevitable.

 

From this point on? I stopped recognising it from 2000.

Seriously though, it's a belt with a lot of history and I respect that history. I could never discount it. It's really lost a lot of its luster in recent years though, some very very boring fights have been attached to the WBA heavyweight title over recent years thanks to Ruiz and Valuev.
