Pavlik can't fight on June 27 due to hand problems and Abraham aint fighting Lorenzo as he wants to much money. Plus Abraham is going on about going up to Super Middle (would be a great addition to the best of the heavier divisions) so why not have it in September (if Pavliks hand is ok).
As much as I want this fight to happen. I don't think we will ever see this fight @ middleweight. It's 168lbs or bust, if ever.
The sad thing is the fight loses a decent amount of luster at 168. While it's a great matchup that I would love to see, it wouldn't be a fight for the undisputed championship of the divison there. The winner would still have to go through either Kessler or Bute.
I agree. But with A. Abraham's recent struggles to make 160lbs comfortably anymore... It's prob gonna be the only way.
You're right. That's at least one positive about it: there won't be any complaints about weight drain by Abraham's camp.
I disagree. I think Pavlik will have trouble imposing his strength on Kessler or Froch or the other elite 168lbs fighters, but Arthur has genuine one punch power, and I think if he can crush Miranda or a really tough guy like Khoren Gevor, I think he'll be even more of a threat at a weight he make healthily.
While there is NO doubt about the extreme ONE SHOT power of Mr. Abraham, do you not think his lack of height in the SMW will hurt his chances a bit? Most all of the top SMW's are 6' or better. I believe AA has only fought 2 fighters this tall.
Abraham and Pavlik have both benefited from being bigger fighters than their opponents (Pavlik, in height; Abraham in build). Neither has superior skills. Once at 168, that size advantage will be gone.
Fair, but Pavlik has the height and frame to BUILD his way up (if done properly over due time), but AA can not grow another 5 or 6 inches, I don't think. In the fights Pavlik has had above 160 he did so as a "blown up MW", meaning he just didn't cut as much and thus probably had a less grueling training camp. If he added muscle like he's supposed to, I think he'll be just fine.:yep
You could be right, but I'm still skeptical. To fight successfully above MW, Pavlik will need to learn from Hopkins and completely transform his physique.
